Jigrigger, why should we clean our own fish. surely we can have our own pioneers to do that for us as a service to those of us who are specially annointed?
now, the bit about going fishing ... that appeals to me ..... especially if it is reef fishing!

First thing you must remember that you are to climb the steps of the tallest building in Sydney on your knees doing 100 'hail freddies" on each step ..... and for further penance you must only have unleavend bread baked by the sisters and good wine for nutrition. That should keep you out of mischief until we can think of something else for you to do.

You are right Bugeye. I can see the funny side of it. We made up something simalar when I was with Randy Wattters and his support group while in the USA in 1988. We had a great time deciding who would be in our 'trinity' What was missing in your new religion are all the doctrines and so on .... one can go beserk in catering for everyone's tastes

i was tempted to write the wtbs today.
i'm reading a loaned copy (from my younger sister, 'waiting') of ray franz's "in search of christian freedom.
" it is a masterful point-by-point refutation of the wts doctrine.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ray and Cynthia too when I was in Atlanta in Nov 1986. My cousin and I drove over to see him and she was so impressed by his humility and love and their hospitality.
They had just moved into their home out of the van at that time.

Today I received some sad news. My Aunt Miriam Sumen died at the age of 82. She was a sweet woman and believed in God very much. In fact she devoted her entire life to what she thought was Gods servcie. She never married and instead spent her entire lifetime as a Missionary of the Jehovahs Witnesses in the country of Chile. Her command of Spanish was excellent. What saddens me even more is that she spent all this time devoted to a lie. What a waste. I pray that her goodness and faith in what was right will allow for the compensation of Grace. When I left the Borg 10 years ago she tried to talk me out of it, but there was no way I could serve the machine anymore. She could just not see the forest for the trees. Mark Palo
By the way it took the Society 7 days to notify anyone in the family. She was dead and buried before anyone knew. Typical Witness style.
Mark also said that her story appeared one one of the magazines ....

i notice amount several jw that a deep kind of fear are a long time partner in the jw person.
this combine with a at long times experience of ignoring facts is why many stays even they see a lot of changes from the borg and sometimes even bad things .
Flabby, your mum is still young. Some of the best advice given by others who have left after so long a time is to gradually make friends outside of the org by getting involved in a hobby, joining a garden club or literature club, or doing some study for something she has always been interested in, Other things are volunteering at a hospital or helping children etc etc ..... over a period of time she will have met and made friends and she can use these interests to gradually attend the KH less and less.

Esther, I only used that one example of what Paul said .... as I said, This stuff about marriage is also in the same catagory, as is the postion of women in the church etc.
The letters of Paul are probably the worst represented writings because they have been used by men to keep women under.

I recommend that we women read it even if we never believe again oly because it helps break the power of the borgs interpretion over us faster ....

Esther, I used to feel like that about Paul too.
One day I cam across a book that changed my whole outlook and made me dig into it a little further. The book was by former JW ELder Charles Trombley and called Who Said Women Can't Teach? From there I read a little more ... and one book by Katherine Bushnell was a real doozy.
When you are ready I have all these in the library here and you are welcome to borrow them.
Just to give you some idea of how men change it so you can't see the real meaning in a translation go look at 1 Tim 5:14 in the Greek and you will see the women are told to be the oikodespoto
oiko means "house"
despoto means "uncontrolled power"
Now when it is the masculine oikodespotes then "master or ruler of the house" as you can see in places like Luke 22:11
Now Esther, we all know what a DESPOT is .... and that is what Paul told us to be in our own homes.
Paul, coming from a Jewish background would have know how things worked in kosher Jewish homes ..... and even today, a Jewish man will not superced the authority of his wife when it comes to household matters .....

At times I feel guilty for thinking like this, as if I'm treating the "Almighty Creator" in a blasphous way.I spoke to Dave about it and he said he feels the same way. So maybe lots people feel like this
I felt like that for about 2 1/2 years after I left. Almost all the xjws that I have talkd to in the last 20 years have felt the same.
Let's face it - we are burnt out on religion period. Why would we want to put ourselves through more before we are past that? If you burn out in a job need a couple of years to recover before you can face it again .... no different here.
It is best to leave any decisions for or against until we are past the worst of it all, and can separate the good from the bad in our experience. That's when we can think clearly and if we make a decision we are doing because that is the way we want to go and not the way we are being "pushed" in reaction to our experience.
