What's your favorite Canadian band?
by lepermessiah insince we have a lot of canadian friends on this board, i have to ask - who are your favorite canadian bands?.
mine is rush.
they have been one of my favorite bands ever since i can remember.. they totally rule........the music and lyrics are all top notch.. the other one is the tea party - jeff martin is a genius.

Will there be sport in the new system?
by african GB Member inif so, what types of sport will be played?.
i know the gb always bash american football and wrestling, claiming they are too violent for jws.. but what sport do you think jws will be spending their sunday afternoons watching or playing in the new system?.
if you were to choose a sport for certain famous jws, past or present, what would it be?.

Gerrit Losch is slated to be the commissioner of the NFL in the new system.
Tackling will be prohibited.
Prayer groups with all team members holding hands will be encouraged.
There will be no draft since college will be abolished in the new system, so all players will be free agents.

On Knowing What's Important...
by undercover inthe thread about the mexico issue got me to thinking.
i started to post this there and then realized it was a bit of a hi-jack, so i'm starting a new thread.
in that other thread, it was mentioned that jws are finding ways of blaming ray franz for some of the embarrassing things that has plagued the wts.

I know sometimes I feel like I am trying to build this air-tight case against the organization to defend my course of action, but its too much to try to consider all at once.
The important thing right now is that I know how I feel about the organization - I have many, many reasons for my disgust and disillusionment with it..
Right now I am taking one major issue at a time and picking it apart for MY sake. If someone wants to discuss it with me, thats fine.
If that person refuses to accept our detailed and well-informed position, nothing quoted by anyone else is going to change their mind.
I am learning that more and more......like so many have pointed out, you could bring tons of ammo to an argument with a JW and they wouldnt consider any of it. It reminds me of the OJ case.....damning evidence, but so many still think he was framed and innocent, just the the WTBS has been slandered and "framed" by apostates......

JW's and Selling Stuff at the Hall
by lepermessiah inmy wife got an invite to a "party" and got me thinking...... one of the biggest things that used to annoy me was how many members of the congregation were involved in those mlm sales schemes or "work from home" companies and they used the kh as the hub of their business.
many of those companies are very legit, and i have no problem with people selling that stuff, its just that people would use their field service tactics to pressure others in the hall to buy stuff.. every week, a member of my family would get invited to a candle party, cosmetics party, tupperware party, vitamin party, etc......you could go bankrupt just from the constant flow of parties and feeling obligated to buy something.. the sad part was that if you turned down the invite or went and didnt buy anything, you would offend the selller!.
then, they would always run around and deliver their orders before and after the meeting (unles the elders put a stop to it), otherwise you would see them out in their car after the meeting distributing everyones' orders.. .
