  the james ossury, and another piece (a inscription relating to repairs to the temple) have today been declared fakes by the body of scientists tasked by the israeli antiquities authority; no url reference, this is off the radio (bbc world service).

  This is absolutely amazing.

  Not the claim of forgery but the fact that even after 2000 years the Jewish, Christian, and Gentile "experts" are still debating the veracity of evidence proclaimed by some to prove the existence of Jesus of Nazareth!

  Amazing, simply amazing. It would seem this could go on forever or at least until the real "Jesus" comes along and sets things straight.

  I wonder though, if he came again would he just turn around in disgust and leave mankind to take care of their own sorry mess they have created despite the efforts of so many like: Zarathustra, Jesus, Paul, Gandhi, E. Roosevelt, T. Jefferson, A. Lincoln, T. Paine, J. Locke and so many many others, who have striven with their life's blood to drive some common sense and love into mankind?

  I think "Jesus" would want to turn around in disgust and plead with his Father to just let him be at peace and not have to come back to such stupidity and greed as is found on earth today among many of the powerful and the wealthy who control the reins of both government and religion and also those that prefer to live for the moment regardless of the consequences for future generations not to mention their own little children.

  Yes, I could easily envision him taking the living children, both young and old, to himself. Taking all those on earth who truly love and who are truly his own, and leaving the greedy to their own fate.

  Makes me salivate just to think of it.

  Doors not to be done

  the last time i went out in the field service maybe 6 years ago, about 20% of doors in the territory were not to be done.

  either there was a no jw sign at the door, or the person asked us to write it down in our notes not to come back, never.

  i guess that percentage of doors not to be done must be higher today.

  I might add though that while we had few DNC, some of the ones we did have tended to be slightly on the violent side which added to our paranoia. I remember the fear coming over us when after ringing the bell a brother on the sidewalk would signal to us that we were at the DNC! Time to pray and silently walk away while praying.

  In my area the Do Not Calls amounted to just a few if any on each Territory Card. Maybe 2 or 3 at most, many territories though had none.

  The Silliness of "Neutrality' and "Pagan Customs"

  These things are why Jesus condemned the hypocrites of his day for 'straining out the gnat while swallowing camels'.

  Such things are an effective DISTRACTION. They enable Witnesses to look at themselves as righteous - while "they

  consider[ed] the rest as nothing" - doomed to Armageddon. They encourage the pitiful attitude of most JW's in ignoring

  charity and simple brotherhood - while imagining themselves as the Favored of God - in-between swallowing

  their Paxil and Prozac prescriptions and wondering why little Johnny doesn't want to go to meetings anymore.

  I whole heartedly agree! It is amazing isn't it, how the Watchtower has become the very thing it claims to hate? It is the modern day hypocritical pharisee, doing just as you said, "straining out the gnat while swallowing the camel."

  Whats the nicest thing anyone has said/done to you?

  .

  in the spirit of minimus i thought i'd put a positive spin on things.

  they say when you surrond yourself with the positive its easier to be positive and vice versa for negativity (no offense to min as i also fully believe that you have to deal with negativity too).... that being said....whats the nicest thing, compliment, gift etc that anyone has ever said or done to/for you?.

  The nicest gift I've received was from my children. I was trained to be a proper young woman, to always watch what I said, thought and did. This made for a rather paranoid person.

  My children helped me to learn to relax. When I would worry and agonize over some small mistake or misplaced word, my kids would always say: "It's not important Mom. It's OK Mom. Don't let it bother you Mom. Who cares what others think, Mom!"

  Finally, after much effort on their part, "mom" is ready to roll without a care in the world!

  A VERY BIG THANKS TO MY LOVING CHILDREN!
