What do you think of as religion? As God?
by Introspection ini couldn't help but notice that for many their idea of god is the common judeo-christian conception of god, and if i'm not mistaken some even think looking at different churches constitutes looking at different religions.
however, i have also noticed that some have apparently spent some time and effort investigating other religions and spiritual practices.
what i want to know is, what do you think defines a religion, and how do you define the word god?

The Great Nest
by Introspection ini posted this on another board in response to a question about current spiritual practice and thought some here might be interested.
this is basically an integral model of spiritual practice.... okay, this is ken wilber's integral model in a nutshell.
now bear with me as this may seem a bit complicated and not inspirational in the feel good sense but i think it will make sense at the end, it may help to draw this model out.

Ken Wilber quote
by Introspection infrom his book integral psychology:.
the most pervasive notion in human history and prehistory (namely, the existence of some sort of spiritual dimension) was simply pronounced, with the thundering authority of science, put with a zeal that was inversely proportional to its believability, to be a massive collective hallucination.
the spiritual dimension, it was solemnly announced, was nothing but a wish-fulfillment of intantile needs (freud), an opaque ideology for oppressing the masses (marx), or a projection of human potentials (feuerbach).

Questioning..
by Introspection init seems to me there are two sides to questioning things, you may do so out of curiosity and wonder, which implies an acknowledgement of something unknown and a desire for understanding, or it may disturb you to question beliefs you have held, assumptions you have come to regard as certainties, which often seems to involve fear and denial.
i'd like to get a discussion going on this, perhaps there is more to it.
does it fit into any existing psychological theory?
