The bOrg Cult Tactics
by pale.emperor ini'm wondering if the borg actually studied mind control and coercion tactics deliberately or wether they just evolved over time through trial and error.
from reading steve hassans books, studying hypnosis and methods psychopaths use it all seems very complex.
like it would never occur to me to do a, b and c in the right order at the right time in order to get control of someone or control their lives.. for example, repetition of words (the word "loyalty" was a big one in the last convention), using loaded language, encouraging people not to trust their own thoughts, restricting their information, demonising those who leave etc.

Good question. I think they came to the mindset that it was their duty to do whatever they could to persuade people to join/stay years ago (for their own sake) and once you are in that mindset, it is not mind-control but helping people. The various tools they use are things that are either obvious (shunning makes people reluctant to leave) or known from the advertising industry (play on emotions, simplify the message and repeat). So I don't think they feel they are brainwashing people, but I do think they talk about the strategy for making their religion as persuasive as possible and I doubt the question of ethics ever come up in those talks (they think whatever they do is ethical by definition).

it can, for instance, tell you if interest in something is growing or diminishing based on how many people are searching for it.. of course it can't tell if the searches are for negative or positive information .... here's some results for jw related terms:.

a friend of mine told me about a huge elders meeting in southern california.
the subject was the relocation and dissolution of some congregations; it seems that this is the result of some project that has been going on for some time and is going to be implemented right now.. please let me know if this is happening all over the country?.

interesting question
by jayjay78 infirstly i'm a df'd witness.. i was in the org all my life.. vividly remember out witnessing as a kid in the 80s with my mum and having apostates jumping houses before we could get to them ..all the way up the street.. remember it because the guy looked like tom baker from dr who - frizzy hair and long colourful scarf.. i think the people at the doors were made more curious by them actually, so when we knocked ,they were inclined to have a listen.. anyway i'm out and cant see myself ever going back,because my family has fully shunned me..and even if i was to go back and be a member..i don't think i could forgive them...totally scarred me.. anyway my question is :.
if you were head of this religion and you wanted to keep it clean and pure etc..how would you deal with people who delib broke the rules?.
no shunning of course..but whats the alternative?

People who wont behave is nothing new, think about someone who misbehaves in a football club. It is easy to throw him out without thinking about shunning.
