while explaining the significance of consuming the booze and bread it is quite likely the speaker is going to make a passing remark about how jesus made sure that judas would not be present to partake.. of course he won't explain his reason for saying that.

Off-topic: hand shaking

this is totally unrelated to anything jw, but it's the only group i'm in online with such a mix of men and women, so i'm asking.

what's your experience with hand shaking?.

me, when i meet someone for the first time, i offer to shake their hand.

I stopped shaking hands after attending a business meeting where a Sales Manager gave a 30 minute lecture about how important is is to give a firm handshake and not a limp fish handshake.

I imagined all these idiot salesmen crushing eachothers hands in an attempt to show how friendly they were. (and that IS what they do!)

Brainwashed.

If you have also attended one of these meetings please keep your slimy salesman super firm BS handshake away from me.

Why aren't you an Atheist?

long time lurker, first time poster.. .

i'm an ms (accounts servant) in a large congregation in canada.

over the last several years i've faught a hard-won battle to rid my mind of all religous and supernatural beleifs.

I am not an atheist.

I am an EX-JW.

The entire roller coaster ride from that first knock on my door through to baptism and then eventually being disfellowshipped

cemented my conviction that God is real and everything it says in the bible is true.

I am convinced that Jehovah's Witnesses are fulfilling the end time bible prophecies in a very profound way.

That they are the ones who profaned the Christian temple with a man of lawlessness.

It was through discerning the "man of lawlessness" and then attemting to explain it to my Christian Brothers that I was eventually disfellowshipped.

Yes, I am still convinced they are my Christian Brothers.

when modern writers, thinkers, believers in christianity talk about their religion they are almost always depending on saul of tarsus (paul) rather than.

jesus.. there is a good reason for this.

paul wrote letters.

I wonder what might have happened without Pauls letters.

If it were only the Gospels then what would have happened to Christianity?

Left with all those unanswered questions!

Perhaps a Watchtower Society could have come along and made it all up with absolutely no accountability to

the writings of Paul.

it took me a long time to write this....i'm being brutally honest...i am still a reg pioneer...three sundays ago,i was praying and asking god for a sign or something because i was so confused...i told him exactly what i needed to see for me to believe.i was feeling terrible--crying and feeling sick because i was so confused.ten minutes after, i walked into the kingdom hall and to my surprise--my prayer was answered!

i soooo wasn't expecting it, even though i prayed.

so this is where almighty god wants me to be,ii've reasoned.
