TOP 10 DOOMSDAY CULTS!
by sacolton inhttp://ty.rannosaur.us/10-doomsday-cults/.
3. the jehovahs witnessesin 1875, charles taze russell, the son of a wealthy haberdasher, used his wealth to inform as many people as possible that the armageddon would take place in 1878.
1878 passed without a blip but russell was unphased: he simply created an organization which transformed into thejehovahs witnesses and issued another date.

WT Society Makes JW's Feel Bad about Themselves - No Self Worth
by flipper ini have noticed this a lot in attitudes of witness relatives i've talked with over the last few years , as well as other former witness friends i have talked to.
many witnesses feel bad about themselves due to having it drilled into them that we are all " sinners " who allegedly inherited " sin and imperfection " from adam and eve .
that essentially humans are " born dead " or in a " dying " condition due to alleged " inherited sin " .

i felt like shit as a jw.... always felt as though i lived my life under a black cloud, the wt was always pointing out how crap we all were in gods eyes and how unworthy.... i dont think i could have felt worse if i had been a nazi camp guard.
i agree with you on that point OUTLAW...while the majority of jws walked under the said black cloud, there were some who were so pious, superior, always pointing out where everyone else was going wrong... one sis i will always remember, everyone used to look at her side ways she was so big headed, booming voice....jehovah thinks this...jehovah thinks that. this sis suddenly gets dfd for cheating on her husband....then afta whats seemed like a few months returns same attitude divorced from her husband, engaged to the new fella who she cheated with.
FLIPPER i feel for you over your daughter it must break your heart... hope it all turns around for you

if a generation can go on for what seems an endless amount of time, what was the point in using the term generation....
something we all understand to mean an average life span....
all religion and i`ve yet to come a cross one thats different, is so based in human thinking....
god is jealous, god wants your worship, its all mysterious, difficult to understand... bollocks!...
health and happiness to you all, even those who continue to bang on about god religion and the bubble.

How many here actually still believe that there is a God??
by annalice inafter being gone from the jw's for many years now , and having done extensive research on the history of god and the belief in him , i can't seem to find any logical way to have a belief in an invisble being up there ruling over us.
how many here still believe?
how many don't?.

i would really like to belive that there is a god...
but everything contradicts that desire...
what i do have is a "firmish" conviction that the human spirit cannot be destroyed....
so maybe where all gods, divine.
you can say comments such as one poster as said "when you look into a babys eyes"
very beautiful.... but you can also say "when you see a baby starving to death"... you get my point.

JW Suicide Bombers !
by wobble inmy question is this :.
are jw's who sacrifice their lives because of the blood doctrine (thoroughly discredited) of the watchtower org.

it was those who were of understandable age.... so not babies then.
i always remember the elders would say "someone around say 11 yrs old who could look around and notice the way the world was changing"
so that makes them now 106 yrs old..... by the way HARRY PATCH god bless you, thank you for my freedom.

As my interest wanes............
by AK - Jeff inall things jw and xjw and even xxjw are beginning to bore me.
tonight, in an effort to stimulate my interest, i cruised back thru threads of the past month or so.
while i found a couple topics of mild interest, and a couple more in which i found it worth effort to make personal comment, i was mostly bored.. i have come to grips with my past religious history.

iv`e only been posting for a couple of months and have really enjoyed the debates and disscussions. Akjeff you are a poster who i always find myself agreeing with, you are very articulate and always to the point i for one would miss your input.
i feel i reached the same point as yourself, why should i keep searching for a god who dosent want to be found...is that because he isn`t there.
religion is a racket, all as bad as each other, though granted some are more dangerous than others.... sometimes the witness bashing gets to be a bit of a drag, but i then have to remind myself that others have had a far worse experience than myself...i was slightly burnt by it, others have been consumed in the fire.
you seem a calm guy at peace with yourself ready to face what life as to throw at you or offer, you survived religion...
stick around, you help people as everyone does on this site in many different ways.
