  Intersting Visit from our local JWs yesturday

  way to early on a saturday morning we got a ring on our doorbell.

  someone else answered the door.

  after they left i walked by our entry way and gagged from the smell!

  little_Socrates, almost every personal hygiene product available has fragrance in it. It is difficult to find ones that do not. I know as I have to use them. Not everyone has the level of sensitivities that your household has. Do you have a sign posted stating your household requires fragrance free interactions? If not, then this is not something anyone should be ragged on about if they wear fragrance.

  you see ive started dating this girl and her family is of strong jehova belief.

  now i am not i do see certain things in there studie that is true in my opinion but ive never really been a religion type of person.

  i think i want to marry her but i am not a jehovas witness and am not looking to be anytime at all she says that is ok and we can still get married but i dont know how its possible or where we would even do it please i need advice

  runForever, the Jesus story is largely, if not all, myth. Everything ever written about Jesus came from people who never even met him decades after his supposed death. Jesus himself wrote nothing down. If you have the time, a comparative study of the 4 Gospels will show they do not corroborate, but in fact, contradict each other.   recently i saw a link to an article from the st. petersburg times (one of these links on the side of this forum to sometimes old articles).

  it was an article about jws and their preaching work.

  imo, middle to favorable.. but the one thing was from a door where the jws are saying they're not here to convert anyone, they just want to share a scripture.. what sort of bs is this?

  Religion is all about the attempt to twist reality or outright lie to further their agenda. It is very difficult to remain intellectually honest and religious. The 2 are not compatible with one another.

  in this video the popular saudi cleric sheik yahya al-jana discusses the joys of paradise, saying that men will have the strength of a hundred men in paradise and will be busy tearing hymens, while the virgins of paradise, whose breasts are like pomegranates, become virgins every time again.. the cleric also explains it is mostly men who enter paradise noting that women in general are bad because they refuse to wear the veil, they wear tight clothes in shopping malls, put on perfume and jewelry, and use filthy social media platforms.

  source.... this is what young men from conservative muslim families are raised on.

  is it any wonder islamic countries treat women appallingly?.

  justthenorm, welcome to our discussion board.

  Boy oh boy, I do feel for you. If you are not a JW but dating one, then know this. The JWs' sole purpose in life is to convert people to their religion. They call it 'the life-saving work'.

  Yes, some of their beliefs are good but so are many other religious groups' beliefs. If you are not a religious person this group is not going to fit for you. Have you taken a look at their publications?
  

  Here are some questions you need to consider:

  1) If I marry this girl and we have a child that requires a blood transfusion to stay alive, will we be allowed to let our baby have one?

  2) Are we being made aware of child predators/pedophiles within the group?

  3) Will our child be allowed to go to College or University?

  4) Will we be allowed to celebrate Valentine's Day, Easter, May Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthdays?

  5) If my gf/wife decides to leave the religion, will her friends and family continue to associate with her?

  6) How much money are you willing to part with to support the JW 'world-wide work' and how frequently?

  7) Are you prepared to be baptized in the religion, go door-to-door, and become an elder? (FYI, the sisters have recently been urged to marry only men of stature in the religion).

  I could go on but these are some pretty important points to consider. I'm sure many others here on the board could add to this list.

  Why Jehovah Does Not Want An Effective Preaching Work

  so we all know how ineffectual the preaching work really is.

  we also know how much the wts hypes up the scope and scale of the global preaching effort.

  what the gb should be doing however is emphasising the ineffectiveness of the preaching work.
