why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

Missed the Meeting
by konceptual99 inso yesterday was a lovely day where i live and so instead of going to the meeting we went, as a family, out for the late pm/early evening to have a bbq.
we were far more relaxed than if we had gone to the meeting.
we spent far more time talking that if we had gone to the meeting.

Mmmmm .... BBQ. Yum!
I suggest replacing all meetings with BBQs. So much more fun, relaxing, and satisfying.

Is 2 feet + 3 meters= 5 meters? Jehovah's witnesses say yes it is!
by quincemyles inhave you noticed that adding 607 b.c.e roman/gregorian years to 2520 jewish biblical/prophetic years to get 1914 roman/gregorian years c.e is like adding 2 feet + 3 meters= 5 meters?.
the insights volume ii under heading year, mentions that a bible or prophetic year is reckoned to have 360 days.
many other publications indicate that a prophetic year is 360 days long.

I'm okay with the "fruitage of the spirit."
by cappytan inthough i now consider myself a secular buddhist, i just realized today that i'm okay with trying to pursue the qualities mentioned by paul as the "fruitage of the spirit.".
the only one i take issue with is "faith" in the context of religion.
what are your thoughts on the matter?.

The Case for Theism
by FusionTheism in"theism" here means "belief in a god" or "the worldview that an intelligent designer created the universe and life.
" ("god" here means a being with a mind who initiated and/or wound-up the universe, and designed life on earth)the most common claim that i see atheists making on twitter, is that "no evidence" exists in support of belief in a god.this post will remove any excuse atheists have for claiming "no evidence exists" in support of an initiator.
atheists can still reject this evidence as "weak," but they cannot truthfully say it does not exist.now, it is true that we do not have "observable, repeatable, falsifiable, empirical, scientific" evidence conclusively proving that an initiator exists, but we do have many lines of philisophical, experiential, and logical evidence.and... here... we... go:1:) many leading scientists, including stephen hawking, say that the space-time-matter universe had a beginning at the singularity/big bang.

New David Splane Video: No 1900 Year Faithful Slave
by FusionTheism ingoverning body member david splane has a new video on tv.jw.org where he talks about all the horrible things committed by martin luther and the protestant reformers.. his conclusion is that there has been no faithful and discreet slave on the earth during the past 1900 years (before 1919 i guess.).
he also says that maybe there were a few anointed on earth, maybe not.. he did add an interesting statement that he doesn't condemn the other churches just for misunderstanding the bible because the society has done that.. another odd point, was that he actually mentioned catholic missionary work in a somewhat positive light, while totally condemning the reformation views on predestination..

In 2010, my Dad told me he has no idea what they are talking about anymore. I was happy dancing on the inside as I knew this cult's days with my Dad were numbered.

Governing Body Mandating That Parents Shun DF'd Preteens Baptized Children Will Hurt Them Big Time In The Courts
by Brokeback Watchtower inas the bad conduct of the governing body becomes widely known to both judge and jury i expect that will make lawsuits more profitable against them and easier wins against them and more plentiful.. i think probably one of the most damming videos out there on the net is the one where the parents show their loyalty to the wt corporation and shun their own flesh and blood in obedience to it cruel directives.
this video truely shows that the governing body don't give a shit about the children who symbolize their dedication to the corporation or their parents.. such a self serving corporation that uses it members for profits only and offer nothing in return no matter how much how much they claim otherwise.
they can't hide this it is plain as day so no matter how much they claim they are concerned about the youth in the organization their action thunder loudly and can not be hiden under a basket.

In our family, our parents withdrawal from us (luckily they did not outright shun us as none of us were baptized) did not work like this case presented in the video.
NONE of us kids are JWs. NONE of us ever will be JWs.
But Mom is dead now and Dad has dementia.
Dad left the JWs because his mind is no longer capable of being a JW.
This religion dies out in our immediate family once Dad goes.

From the OP: "God" here means a being with a mind who initiated and/or wound-up the universe, and designed life on earth.
Ok, so I'm taking it here you are speaking of the Greek god "Zeus" then.
The presiding deity of the universe, ruler of the skies and the earth, Zeus was regarded by the Greeks as
the god of all natural phenomena on the sky; the personification of the laws of nature; the ruler of the state;
and finally, the father of gods and men.
Using his shield, the Aegis, Zeus could create all natural phenomena related to the air and the sky, such as
storms, tempests, and intense darkness. At his command, mighty thunders would flash and lightnings
would roll, wreaking havoc; or the skies would open to rejuvenate the earth with life-giving water.
As the personification of the operations of nature, he represented the grand laws of unchanging and harmonious order, by which both the natural and the spiritual world were governed. He was the god of
regulated time as marked by the changing seasons and the regular succession of day and night, in
contrast to what his father Cronus represented before him; absolute time, i.e. eternity.
As the ruler of the state, he was the source of kingly power, the upholder of all institutions connected to the
state, and the friend and patron of princes, whom he guarded and assisted with his advice and counsel.
He was also the protector of the people, and watched over the welfare of the whole community.
As the father of the gods, Zeus ascertained that each deity perform their individual duty, punished their
misdeeds, settled their disputes, and acted towards them on all occasions as their all-knowing counsellor
and mighty friend.
As the father of men, he took a paternal interest in the actions and well-being of mortals. He watched over
them with tender solicitude, rewarding truth, charity, and fairness, while severely punishing perjury and
cruelty. Even the poorest and most forlorn wanderer could find a powerful advocate in Zeus, for he, as a
wise and merciful paternal figure, demanded that the wealthy inhabitants of the earth be attentive to the
needs of their less fortunate fellow citizens.Zeus is also called Jupiter, Dias.
He overthrew his father, Cronus, and then drew lots with his brothers Poseidon and Hades, in order to
decide who would succeed their father on the throne. Zeus won the draw and became the supreme ruler of
the gods, as well as lord of the sky and rain. His weapon was a thunderbolt which he hurled at those who
displeased or defied him, especially liars and oathbreakers. He was married to Hera but often tested her
patience, as he was infamous for his many affairs.
