As a Witness - What did you Notice in How Elders Got Appointed ?
by flipper ini found it amazing being raised in the witnesses to see exactly who got appointed sometimes as an elder.
it seemed that the criteria in my opinion had more to do with getting 10 hours a month in field service, answering at meetings, carrying microphones as a ministerial servant, or handling the magazine or literature counter !
in doing these " functions " and attending meetings on a regular basis - a man was thought to be considered " spiritually strong " and qualify to be an elder and serve on judicial committees judging people's personal problems.

All the above comments are true, esp the ones concerning brown nosing and family connections. Overall, here in Oz, the situation is as Man in Black stated - a boys club mentality!

did you stash literature away in 1974?
by Aussie Oz inin ballarat victoria, australia, under the floor of the garage in a little yard, it a pile of wt literature.. in 1974, expecting banning and persecution, mother and we 3 children dug a hole and buried bibles, watchtowers and god knows what.. i wonder if it is still there?.
took a look on google earth and the shed still stands!!!.

Do Elders and Bethelites really follow this site?
by jamesmahon injust a question really and whilst i would not put it past them i sort of feel it is too 'conspiracy theory' for me.
are elders and bethelites officially sanctioned to lurk (or engage) in this or other sites to try to weedle out apostates?
does anyone have any direct experience of it happening?.

Mattieu
Hi Cognac,
He is definitely not an apostate, a career elder who loves to flush out the juicy stuff, df people and then brag about it.... Though he is doing a service, he has pushed a few people away from the borg..

Shaddap You Face
by minimus inin 1980 a song was out on the radio called shaddap you face.
it was supposed to be a fun song mimicking italians saying what sounded like shut up a your face.. i remember having parents bringing their children to me for counsel because their kids would giggle and sing this song.
some jw parents thought it was a terrible song, disrespectful and ungodly.. i remember telling one hardline parent that i kind of thought the song was funny and that it might not be such a big deal.

Joe Dolce, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Dolce
A good Italian boy from Ohio who moved to Melbourne, it was number 1 here in Oz as well and yes the JW's here viewed it as a rebellious song and us christian kids should change the radio when it came on!
I drive past the club in Brunswick where he first perfomed that song quite often...
Cheers, mattieu..

Yes they do here in Australia. I know of two elders, one an ex bethel elder now an elder in the burbs and his partner in crime who is now a c/o who actively search this site looking for people like me that they know and want to oust. I discovered this site when I was working with elder #1 and saw this site on his computer. I could name them, pm me if you want details....
