  Yes absolutely.

  I detest group-think. Its group-think that got me stuck in the Watchtower for so long and in the church for another decade. To think everybody on your side of a specific issue is virtuous and vice-versa is a serious mistake.

  There are non-believers who are just as muddled, superstitious and nasty as the people they attack.

  Thank you, Cofty. For saying so.

  I notice certain posters have almost a "cheerleader squad" that follow them around and cheer on their posts, no matter what.

  So since the non-believers are the first to admit, how do the non-believers here deal with that on the board? When another non-believer goes into attack mode or crosses over a line - what do you do/what can you do to re-direct?

  Most are still missing my point, as Gervais expressed it:

  Are there any Theists out there that will admit that their side is not always well represented? Are they willing to stand up when one of their own goes too far?

  Are there any Non-believers out there that will admit the same?

  As a believer, I find it difficult if not impossible for nonbelievers to be capable of respecting a truce or having civil discussions because they dont have any values. The believe their very existance happened by chance so they dont even respect themselves.

  **sigh**

  Yes....."atheists have no values" and "no respect for themselves".

  Thank you for your input. I guess the truce is over.

  It comes back to the point of making a distinction between the believer and the things they believe.

  As a non-believer I don't define myself by my lack of belief but for many people of faith their whole identity is tied up with their beliefs so when you ask questions about that they feel personally attacked

  .

  That's the difference I see, too.

  Just one question, why is the term non-atheist used, instead of theist?

  Because some here object to being called theists when they are not sure if god exists or not.

  They don't like being classed as Atheists, yet Agnostic beliefs are very individual.

  Those who are Atheist dont' seem to mind that there are varying degrees of atheism amongst them.

  But Non-Atheists seem to want clarification and individualization, but which would result in an exceedingly long thread title.
