I am not sure I agree with the above comments. From my own experience I would say that JWs do put their faith in their version of the Bible but they put their faith in the interpretation of it in the WTS. The issue of Blood is a good example: of course the Bible doesn't mention blood transfusions explicitly as there weren't any when it was written so instead of forming their own view on what the Bible teaches (which would be bad enough), they let the WTS decide for them.

Is There Any TV Show That You Wished Was Still On?
by minimus ini know a lot of people were upset when mash ended.
i never was a big fan of the show, probably because it was on a meeting night, but it was a very popular show.. i loved hill street blues, taxi, all in the family, the rifleman, even superman!
i wished those shows never stopped!.

Elder won't marry mum because my brother's gay
by iMARX ini know that the elders and all jws have stupid "conscience" decisions to make from time to time, but this topped it for me.. my brother's gay and that's why he left the religion a few years ago.
now my mum wants to get re-married to another brother but the elder that she asked to marry them both declined.
he says that it would bother his conscience too much "because of luke living with you, because he's...ya know...gay!".

I am a bit surprised that anyone would view a JW elder as anything but homophobic. Like a lot of Christianity-based religions (though it isn't exclusive to Christianity in the least) there is no place for homosexuals in the JWs as far as I recall. Doesn't homophobia come as a package with the whole religion? As an aside; if the person living at home had been hetero but in an unmarried relationship would the elder have reacted the same way I wonder?

i inherited a book that was published in 1917 entitled "what pastor russell said his answer to hundreds of questions".
inside the book on the first page is a red seal with the words "millions now living will never die".

That's a very good example of changing teaching "Will Never" to "May Never". That's a massive change isn't? You 'will' win a million pounds tomorrow -v- You 'may' win a million pounds. Preposterous.

Recent assembly
by Iwonder17 in1) stop using internet,facebook,myspace,email,texting and spend more time studying and in service.. my mate quit their facebook page when we came home lol.
2) maybe i am just more tuned into it now, but they mentioned "apostate" a lot more this time around, espicially when talking about the internet.. it keeps me thinking, if there is nothing to hide, then why is there such a big push not to look?
it's like an ugly girlfriend not wanting her boyfriend to look at the girls on the beach .
