There's A Ghost At My Place Of Employment
by finallysomepride inok some of you will laugh at this, but it's true, there is a spirit that haunts the premises where i work.. it has spoken to me once when i was locking up, it was 1 single word "hello", i looked around and saw nothing, i ignored it, set the alarm locked the door & went home.
other times i have felt something brush passed me as i have entered the building early in the morning.
the experience that got to me most happened the other nite when i was called back to the store by security, as i pulled into the drive way there was a man standing at the rear of the building, in the split second of looking away he dissapeared, there's no way that he could have run off the property in that split second.. what do you think?.

I think we are done Caedes. But for the record here is the OED definition:
empirical
(also empiric)
• adjective based on observation or experience rather than theory or pure logic.
— DERIVATIVES empirically adverb .
— ORIGIN Greek empeirikos, from empeiria ‘experience’.
It does not mention repeatable. Interestingly though much of the work Lodge did has been repeated by others many many times. Again you'd have to read about this too if you were genuinely interested but you're not :) and I am definitely not interested in wasting my time on this subject with you. It is far too important.
The fact remains that you are prepared to dismiss the work of a man (in Lodge) who is acknowledged as one of the greatest scientific minds of his day (as was Sir William Crookes). You are not prepared to look at his work and yet you dismiss it. It is clear to anyone reading your comments what your position is - they can make their own mind up about this discussion and read the books I have suggested for themselves. They will quickly see whether or not I have overstated the case.
I will not respond to further comments on this matter by you as it is clearly pointless.
@Walkin - thank you for your comments, if you would like to discuss this further I have sent my email address so that we can exchange information in a sensible way.

Hi Walkin
I am glad you looked up Leslie Flint - he is an interesting case. I have a friend who sat with Leslie Flint over 100 times and who is someone I regard as highly reputable and level headed. He vouches for Leslie's authenticity (and also incidentally for Alec Harris). I am not saying that simply reading these accounts is enough to convince a person that survival is a fact, but it is certainly food for thought isn't it? I think you will find Leslie's autobiography most interesting if you get a chance to read it. I will take a look at Hanz Holzer thank you for the suggestion.
If you are interested in reading further you will find David Fontana's book "Is there an afterlife" worth a read too. Although Fontana has not carried out much original research the book is a good compendium of much of the research that has been done and contains many useful references to the original research he mentions. I would also consider reading "Immortal Remains" by Stephen E Braude.
@ hemp lover - I read the Dubois books and they are basically Alison recounting her own experiences which is probably of interest to many people but doesn't really cut it for me as evidence. Nevertheless taken at face value some of her experiences are interesting, if difficult to validate.

Caedes - simply saying that I support your view doesn't make it so. As I said previously if you aren't prepared to look at the evidence - and that is what it is, that's your choice. It is of no concern to me at all. As an aside Empirical means : denoting information gained by means of observation, experience, or experiment - much, if not all of Lodge's etc research and evidence was gathered according to that definition.
Simply refusing to read such work is depriving you of the opportunity to be better informed - whether you accept it or not. Without your having read it your argument is, as I said before from ignorance and there is no value in your opinion on the matters covered therein because you don't know what they are. It is also unproductive to engage you in debate on the matters because it would entail transcribing or cutting and pasting vast amounts of material which is readily available to those with a genuine interest - which clearly you don't have. Those who are interested will read some of the material originally suggested at the outset, those who aren't won't bother. Those who are too lazy to find out about it but are happy to posture and dissemble will do what you are doing. Good luck to you. I have spent the past five years researching this matter. I am not prepared to waste any more time on discussing these topics with someone who has no genuine interest and is too lazy to read a couple of books.
If you think that means you're right - well you're entitled to your opinion, however badly informed it is.

Intellects do not believe in God
by garyneal inon our trip back home from the thanksgiving holiday spent at our home town my wife labeled me an intellect.
normally, i would've been flattered with the title but when she called me that she was referencing the bible verse matthew 11:25. this offended me to say the least.. she said that it was hard for people like me to have faith in something because i will always investigate it and make sure of it.
for example, if someone told me that the grass was green, she said i would not believe them and research grass and the color green to ensure that it really was.. i told her that this was absurd and that i see no reason to research whether or not the grass was green when i can see with my own eyes what color it is.

Is this the same Bible that has chunks missing in the Hebrew section as evinced by references to stories and characters which do not appear anywhere and which encourages slaughter, war, rape, sex with elderly relatives and talking snakes? Not to mention a bunch of writings in the latter part decided by a committee controlled by the Roman Empire? If this is really God talking I would have expected something a bit more coherent.

So how do the "remnant" die?
by bob1999 inaccording to the "new" light of the wts some of the "remant" will still be alive when armageddon breaks out.. on page 352 of the book "you may survive armegeddon onto god's new world" it says that the remnant has to die so they can be resurrected with a "sprirual body".. .
this sounds like yet another doctrinal discrepancy to me.. .
peace.

An Apology ..... (of sorts)
by AllTimeJeff inopinions are like certain orifices, everyone has one.. it's only if you insist that yours is the only one in the room that counts that you become like certain orifices....... with that in mind, i wish to offer a small but sincere apology to all members of our unique little community on jwn.
(that even includes perry).
now mind you, i don't apologize for the views i have, esp my political ones.

Well JD maybe you didn't like the apology but you must win the prize for most ungracious response to one I have ever witnessed - what did he do eat you kids? I can't be bother to read what ATJ actually apologised for but man you look about as rude and condescending as it gets.
