A witness and a Crumpet
I've never heard of "Crumpet" as a surname before. My ghast could barely be more flabbered...

this is a great story and its totally true.. peter kay says that when you are a kid you have loads of aunties and uncles, your uncle bob because he once borrowed your dads orbital sander and your aunty mary because your mum goes to weight watchers with her.
i thought it was a witnoid thing, or maybe a north of england thing, or even a 70's thing.. uncle malcolm was (is) an elder in my childhood congregation, a little wiry bloke in a flat cap and painters overalls.
lived in a council house opposite my nana's with the ample aunty jean, two large shiftless sons and lots of budgies.

since i have so many brits and uk types in one place, i was wondering if you all could classify or tell me the names of the different british accents.
i think most in the states could be grouped by region and then each region divided into regular folks and folks with cash.
for instance in thestates, you basically have north east which is can be characterized by your classic new york or boston accents.
Yes, a smoking picture please, please, pretty please

Fag???? I thought she was brushing her teeth
if someone asked to state briefly why you left the jw brotherhood what would you say?
God this question's been bugging me for days. Why aren't I still there?
This is my answer: I found the whole universal sovereignty test thing so deeply deeply unfair. I knew a lot of "worldly" people, who seemed decent and honest, really good people. I couldn't accept any longer that when they shut the door on the JWs who called on them, they were actually deliberately choosing to follow debil-da-satan. It didn't make any sense. I reasoned to myself that, if God (for I believed in him then) wanted to test his sovereignty, he probably could have found a better way of doing it than sending out a bunch of grinning idiots on Sunday mornings.

Winston Churchill, Michael Pallin, John Cleese, Maggie Thatcher, Tony Blair, Hugh Grant, Roger Moore, that bitchy Weakest Link lady
All these I'd classify as well educated accent, pretty much regionless, more depending on the kind of social class you belong to. Try to speak like you've got a plum in your mouth, and another one up yer arse.
Mick Jagger, Michael Cain, more London-brackets-common.

im from a small backward industrial town in the north of england.
in the 70's when i was a kid no-one had a car.
we used to meet for field service on the street corner and have a pep rally right there, then stand in a circle and say a prayer.
KK
Pity we didn't meet way back when, we could have *ahem* done each other a favour

Amen sister, we were GROSSLY mis-informed about worldly people. They turned out to be dissapointingly unpromiscuous in my experience.
