Since the guy was a Muslim converted to a JW, it's not surprising his family would shun him especially when talking about older Muslim generation. The irony is that if the guys kids left wts he would probably shun his kids until they returned to the wts.

Saturday Morning Service
by Celestial ina couple of months ago, i thought out plans to go out in field service because i was stimulated by my cousin who's married and has recently been appointed a ministerial servant.
i thought to myself, if my life-long newly appointed ministerial servant cousin can knock on doors and present the watchtower and awake!
so can i. so, i can at least progress toward a status other than inactive.

I find some interest in the intellectual challenges of viewpoints contrary to my own.
What exactly do you find interesting regarding different viewpoint at a door when you're standing there with another JW and can't accept anything the householder is saying but you have to refute everything others say and stick with the party line? Are you saying that if a householder pointed out misquotes from wts publications or showed you 607 is wrong you would gladly discuss it as to maybe accept it or would you more likely deny the reality and tell the householder the wts BS view is the correct one?
You likely don't recollect anything desirable as a foot-soldier for Jehovah.
What exactly are those desirables? While I was inactive for most of my dub life, lucky me, but honestly the few years I wasted on knocking on doors were not desirable at all. Sure you go on chatting with you're wts partner about total BS for most part, wasting time thinking you're doing the right thing when in fact you are spreading deception where ever you go. Majority of active witnesses don't even comprehend the level of deception used by watchtower and it's this deception and lie they bring to unsuspecting people who may even accept the material to read. It's like offering the public a piece of cancer. While under the wts spell, you may find it interesting but once you learn the truth about the wts deception it should make you feel sick to your stomach that you had any part of spreading the lie and encouraging people to read the wts trash.
majority of voices online pertaining to Jehovah's Witnesses are anti-JW
Majority of voices online are anti-wts and not JWs. JWs like many other cult followers are victims of the cult they're stuck in and don't know any better. Then there are those who have all the facts at their fingertips but deny the reality and continue living a delusion creating twisted reality in their own minds to satisfy their need to imagine that they've not been deceived.

Feel lucky you didn't marry the guy. It may sound cold and hard to understand, but your breakup with him is the best thing that could have happened to you. Dating or worse, marrying a believing JW may end up a horror story for anyone. Sure there are marriages that are happy between jws and non believers but I would guess they are in minority.
A believing JW will always put wts ahead of you. Meetings, weekly recruitments all take priority over you, anything you do to interupt that is "your fault because you are worldly and don't understant and lover Jehovah"... The respect you have for him, he will never have for you unless he researches watchtower and comes to understand it's a fraud, until he is at that point he is and most likely always be damaged goods that you don't need in your life.
There are a lot of good JWs but because of their belief system they can't be real friends, nor can they be marriage material. These people generally have families that won't accept non-JW spouse in to their families on the same level as they would another JW. Your kids will most likely be forced to be indoctrinated in their ways, and even if the JW parent would allow the other parent to chose religiously for the kids (very doubtful) the kids would still be bombarded with JW beliefs and guilt from the JW grandparents.
You're JW buddy is using you and that's all there is to it, if you want any chance with him get him to start researching his beliefs and don't be anything more than friends with him until he actually grows some balls and starts treating you like an equal not like a "worldly" person.

Watchtower 11/15/06 Did Judah remain desolate?
The Babylonian Gap The Assyrians and Babylonians both ravaged large parts of ancient Israel, yet the archaeological evidence from the aftermath of their respective conquests tells two very different stories. Why? In 721 B.C.E., the Assyrians brought an end to the northern kingdom of Israel. A little more than a century later, the Assyrians themselves suffered defeat at the hands of the Babylonians, who became the world’s new superpower. The Babylonians were no less bent on mayhem and destruction than the Assyrians had been: In 586 B.C.E., they burnt Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple, bringing an end to the southern kingdom of Judah and 400 years of Davidic rule. As destroyers, the Assyrians and Babylonians had much in common. But the periods that followed their conquests could not be less alike. While the Assyrians left a clear imprint of their presence in Palestine, there is a strange gap after the Babylonian destruction. Call it an archaeological gap, if you wish. The savage Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem is well documented both in the Bible (in the books of Jeremiah and Lamentations) and in the archaeological record. When Nebuchadnezzar first placed the city under siege in 597 B.C.E., the city quickly capitulated, thereby avoiding a general destruction. But in response to a revolt by Judah’s King Zedekiah, Nebuchadnezzar dispatched an army that, after an 18-month siege, captured and destroyed the city in 586 B.C.E. The evidence of this destruction is widely confirmed in Jerusalem excavations. On his first swing through Judah, Nebuchadnezzar had destroyed much of Philistia—Ekron, Tel Batash, Tell Jemmeh, Ruqeish and Tel Sera‘. Particularly devastated was Ashkelon, which the Babylonians sacked in 604 B.C.E. Similar evidence of Babylonian destruction can be found throughout the Beersheba Valley, in the Aravah (the valley south of the Dead Sea) and in the Jordan River valley. From south to north, we can trace the effects of Babylonian might—at Tell el-Kheleifeh on the coast of the Red Sea, at Ein Gedi on the shore of the Dead Sea, and further north at Dan, the source of the Jordan River. The same is true in excavations at major northern sites—Hazor; Megiddo, overlooking the Jezreel Valley; and Dor, on the Mediterranean coast—and in central Judah, where, in addition to Jerusalem, we may look at Ramat Rahel and Lachish, among other sites. But the strange thing is that above the remains left by these destructions, we find no evidence of occupation until the Persian period, which began in about 538 B.C.E. For roughly half a century—from 604 B.C.E. to 538 B.C.E.—there is a complete gap in evidence suggesting occupation. In all that time, not a single town destroyed by the Babylonians was resettled. This is true even of the old Assyrian fortresses along the Way of the Sea (the Via Maris); they were reoccupied only in the Persian period, as shown by the recently excavated fort at Rishon le-Zion.

Judge Rutherford
by goddidit inplease could someone tell me the significance of this text that i found at.
http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/jehovahs-witness/thpg9b658rq9ig6n6.
if you don't think the watch tower society is a liar and hides information from their people, just go to their site, www.watchtower.org - at their site is a search function.

Ya, it's funny when Proclaimers came out, there was no internet and what a "wonderful" resource f&d slave provided. Then you get internet with old publications being digitized and freely available and anyone can see that Proclaimers book was a typical propaganda one would expect from wts.
As for Rutherford, wts hides as much as they can about their past so there is no surprise that there is nothing on Rutherford on their site. I'm sure there is not much on Russell or Knorr on there either. Forget about 1975 and Freddy, so if one wants to call it coverup, well I guess it is but it has nothing to do with Rutherford but has to do with general wts past.
The only history that wts will print is cherry picked events in their favor, or history twisted enough to fit an article knowing that typical witness will not go out of their way to dig up old article and check the source. WTS is all about today while yesterday is old light, old troof not worth mentioning.

I know a lad who has been out for 15 years now, but he still will not visit sites on the Net that he considers "Apostate" and he still fears the big "A" .
Isn't that messed up! Afraid of dying at Armageddon but won't visit apostate sites. He's got nothing to lose if he visits an exJW site. If imaginary god is going to kill him for not following wts what worse can he possibly do to the guy if he visits jwfact.com?
That's why it's so important for believing jw at any stage in their lives (df/inactive) to learn the facts about wts, and those dating one to know the problems that may come with getting involved with jw believing in wts crap.

Are there many non-English apostate forums???
by diamondiiz inmost of us here, are from english speaking countries and we can see many waking up to the truth in our areas, but how are people doing in other countries?
are there forums like this one in other languages and does anyone know if the foreign speaking "apostates" are also associating together in similar manner as we are able to?
just wondering if we have a much bigger advantage over non-english speaking witnesses in learning he truth about the troof..

Good to know that non-English witnesses have opportunity to learn truth about wts from exJWs. Forums like this one are useful for many, even if JWs just lurk on here and read and check the references usually provided they might wake up.
Thanks blondie for the links.

Problem is that teens will do natural things, feel guilt they're not good enough for some bullshit god. They will get DF, and they will either continue to screw up their lives because they figure they will die at Armageddon so might as well party as if there is no tomorrow or/and return to the borg because they still believe in the wts deep inside.
Only a cult can screw up kids like that and then blame the kids for their messed up lives.

United Nations mentioned in Watchtower publications
by Magi inhi everyone, i have some questions for anyone that can answer.
i've been doing some research in the whole united nations scandal with the watchtower organization.
and i am wondering what the society's view on the un is as of late.

Apologists can twist the facts all they want. WTS didn't say anything about human rights but simply used "library card" excuse, anything other than what comes from wts is apologists irrelevant BS.
Point is, if there is nothing wrong with being an NGO why did wts resign after the Guardian run the story? If it is wrong, why do wts' foreign branches still have connection to UN?
WTS PR must have thought, resigning as an NGO was the best strategy, so the US branch done that while some foreign branches didn't get exposed so they kept their UN connections (DPI) to this day.
