  it makes s me sick that the witnesses have such a hold over people.

  ive told my wife and shown her all the crap about the society but she still insists ongoing to meetings.

  I didnt mean to sound angry, but the power and hold the WTS has had over us all gets to me.

  They dont even believe correctly, merely what they are told by the WTS and as soon as that changes so do they. As I did.

  i am still reading about how some on here are trying to tell their family members the witnesses are wrongand they bring up all these different ways the witnesses are wrong, and what teachings are wrong.

  remember what it was like when we were "believers?

  " we immediately stopped any "negative" comments by householders that we felt attacked the organization.. so if we want to get our point across, stay away from saying, "the organization is wrong.

  Yes I think that advice is bonafide, Bonafide.

  There is no point trying to knock their faith as they cannot even think about questioning it.

  I was exactly that way. I felt the FDS where somehow inspired and it was a shame that no one else would listen to our message of 'hope'.

  I only came out from its control because for the first time in my really busy life, I had the time to research a subject that was bothering me.

  It was only that I wanted to strengthen my faith in my belief that I found out I was wrong, but if some crazed angry housholder or relative had tried to show me the same information I would have rejected it .

  Such is the hold the WTS had over me and the same is true of all faithful dubbers. My parents are totally sucked in and there is absolutly no point even suggesting a belief might be wrong somehow.

  Yes miss smiles I have changed.

  I have woken up to the fact that the WBTS are full of shit.

  My anger comes from the fact that they have drip fed me crap for forty years!

  That is the only agenda here. All I wish is for my wife, (in her own) time to wake up to this fact also, but its her choice.

  All I said is it that it sickenens me the hold the WTS has had over people, myself included.

  Look at this way, at least she not hanging out on the streets looking for drugs or hanging out in a bar leaving you at home with the kids.

  What the hell has that got to do with anything!

  The thing is lisa I do that kinda thing.

  She knows I love the weekends with her and the kids and we spend all summer on the beach and have picnics etc and she has been missing a few meetings.

  But then the guilts set in and meetings seem to pacify her conscience.

  I think I have to get her to read stuff for herself rather than me telling her like some crazed poztate.

  I was probably the same or worse, Id never miss a flamin meeting, shes caught it from me and now I want out, so I know I cant expect her to stay away till she learns what I now know. I have to be patient I know as 'password' says.

  Its like the Catholics doing some kind of penance to salve the conscience.

  Show up and make an appearance and all is well.

  You are all right. It is like trying to melt ice or turn the volume down rather than flipping a switch.

  It was gradual with myself, but for me it was the blood issue, once I realized what a farce the teaching was, I was hungry to disocver what other crap I had been fed.

  I’ve told my wife and shown her all the crap about the society but she still insists ongoing to meetings. She’s off again this afternoon and taking the kids.

  The thing is, I have wasted enough of my life sitting in those boring meetings to last a life time. I cannot even face going with them.

  So my family is split up again because they still have a grip on her. It makes me mad!

  I realize probably everyone on this board has had to deal with this in some way. I wish there was something I could say or do that would flip the switch in her mind that is controlled by them.

  apparently the society believes that crux still meant "stake" in the second century a.d., when tacitus composed his annals.

  Although I am a newbie ,I am awakening from my cultic coma, and reading your posts has helped me, arose my own thinking ability.

  I think you should consider publishing a book or a series of papers.

  If you got together with the sarcasm of Farkel you could have a best seller to rival the little blue book!

  not just to what it has done to me and my family but to people all over the world.

  i want to see nothing but the governing body exposed as the charlatans that they are and for all to see the great evil that is the wbts.

  I know there are a lot of retards that love to exert thier authority.

  But most are victims of victims and truly beleive they have found "truth"

  Even many at the top are totally sucked in like those guys in 'awakened at Gilleads' video of the school he attended.

  They seem so nice and sincere.

  I know that dosnt make things right.

  But we where suckered in too and contributed to the belief system.

  Im angry at myself that I want bright enough to work it out untill I reached my forties.

  What do you believe is the main reason people become JWS ?

  just thinking back on my own family that started with the jws in the early 50's, .

  both of my parents came from different religious backgrounds one was catholic and the other a anglican.. what probably sparked my mother's attention, who was the first to be in contact with a jws, .

  was of course the destruction of the system of things and a new paradise for those that god approved.. and i'm guessing that this what catches most peoples attention just as it did to my mother.. i'm also assuming that this is most likely what grabs other people as well.......any comments ?.

  The times in which my father became involved must have been exciting.

  Around 1969 talk was of 75 and the ushering in of Gods New world.

  He had no interest in religion prior to this and his imagination as a young man was captured.

  He wanted all these promises for himself but most of all his children.

  The Truth book presented a take on how the bible should be understood and he fell for it.

  1914 and its implications for the generation was all the proof you needed.

  Hence he was indoctrinated and also sincerely belived, as did thousands of others around that time.

  I often wondered if they came to my door as an older person wether or not I would have fallen for it.

  this may be old news to some while most won't even know who he is.

  in case you don't know him, he was a jw that defended many of the jw doctrine publicly.

  he did this mainly in the form of two books, jw's defended and three dissertations on the teachings of jw's.
