  i'm a "non believing" husband (12 years) of a returning witness.

  i'm a devout "cat lick" and my wife is returning to the kh after 12 years.

  While she's still in the process of going back, I'd do ANYTHING to get her to read Crisis of Conscience, by former Governing Body member, Ray Franz. Bribe, beg, demand, cajole, promise to do the dishes--anything! Do it now, because once she's back, she won't look at ANY outside information, be it Internet or printed.

  Above all, remember that she's a grown woman, so there may be little you can do to prevent her. Your children are a different matter. If you allow them to be indoctrinated, you'll lose them, too.

  Use your position as "spiritual head of the house" to insist that your children not have their lives turned upside down. I also liked Scully's advice. Don't let her use the automatic JW persecution complex. She's the one persecuting your right to raise your children the way you've been doing.

  Sorry, but you've got a lot of pain ahead of you, unless you can get your wife to see the truth about The Truth.

  US Catholic Bishops - Pedophile Proposal

  today the news reported that the us catholic conference of bishops will be taking the following steps regarding the pedophile issue in their church:.

  1. they will be issuing a formal public apology to the victims and their family, taking responsibility as a church.. 2. they call for the defrocking of any priest who commits an act of pedophilia, and kicked out of the church.

  (this will allow a one time exemption for a single past act (prior to this announcement only) if certain specific conditions are met.

  It just showed up in Yahoo's news (and we know it doesn't get any more reliable than that)

  This proposal has not been approved. It will be voted on by a council of Bishops in Dallas June 13-15.

  From the article;

  For priests accused of just one offense in the past, a diocesan review board — comprised mainly of lay people — would determine whether the cleric would return to public ministry.

  The clergyman would have to undergo treatment and evaluation to determine that he was not a pedophile. The review board would also have to consider whether the priest was free of criminal or civil claims, whether he continued to receive counseling and accepted public disclosure of his misconduct.

  And JWs are defending their "strong" policy which says victims now have the right to go to the authorities.

  the result of the airing of the dateline program has been very positive.

  dateline program will no doubt air again in reruns and may get further coverage soon.

  there have been many mixed emotions as a result of this program.

  We'd all appreciate if you could confirm for sure the deletion of those elders.

  If true, how ironic--yet true to form--that the elders (a year late) would be punished by the society for following the society's orders. How paranoid are other elders going to be now? They'll KNOW that they could very easily be in the place of Beliz' elders.

  I bet the next few years are going to see a record number of articles and service meeting parts about not taking our brothers (read: the Society) to court... and maybe the third baptismal question will be a promise never to sue the WT.

  I agree with Path that Bill's time is running out. They will most likely dispense with even an appearance of justice. They've already rubberstamped the DFing papers, they just needed the formality of a tribunal. As Bill continues to make that process public, they'll eventually call him and tell him he's been DFd in absentia.

  Letter to the Congregations (Dateline)

  last night my father called me and informed me about "the letter" that is going to be read tonight at his congregation re: dateline.

  he said hed let me know what it said, and that "apparently the society feels as though some things were misrepresented on the dateline program.

  " i havent been on here the past few days, so im sure the letter has been discussed on the forum (i did see bill mention it in his thread)........i was just wondering if anyone had a copy, or just a quick summary on what the letter had to say.

  the angioplasty begins: the cardiologist arrived from the other hospital, and started telling everyone what he needed.

  more medical staff showed up soon after, and the room was insane ... just like on tv ... short tempers demanding this or that device or assistance, people yelling out my vital readings, and i got a brief glance of the operating room door with people in green outfits, head caps, and face masks bopping in and out.
