ex-nj-jw... I hope you've been able to find love in your life... Having a mother who doesn't love you sets you up for a tough run of things, however I'd like to believe we can get beyond the sorrows of our childhood and have a fulfilling life in spite of the setbacks...

I feel I should say that I'm an agnostic theist... I believe in the potential for God, but I don't believe we can know him/her/it. The more I read the OT the less I believe in the divinity of the Bible... It's no different than any other religion's sacred texts (IMHO)
BTW... Dawg... Your surprised me with your answer, I took you for a dyed-in-the-wool atheist! I liked your response!

Aculama... Thank you for your response. Looking at the JW's, many believers have died for their faith because of policies on blood transfusions and military service. Is their sacrifice not equal to that of the apostles you mentioned? They held to their faith and died for it, I can't see the difference...

Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?
by reniaa ini have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.
there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

ps mother's day does have pagan roots, father's day was just a 20th century addition to mother's day, and thanksgiving is a harvest festival which themselve have pagan roots but paganism isn't the only reason the holidays aren't observed
What are the other reasons for not observing holidays? I've never been a JW, this concept is new to me.

I've lost faith... I occasionally find myself praying, but I think maybe it's out of habit. I used to talk to "God", pray for guidance, pray for my family and friends. It never did a lick of good though... Nothing changed because I prayed.

And I was born in May, the 5th month, but if you add 2 (for the number of parents I had) to that, you get... SEVEN... I'm the whore of Babylon... (You may notice that Babylon has SEVEN letters & if you take "whore" plus "of" you get seven too!!!)

If I apply a 360 day year for each of the 7 times in Daniel and then add that to 607 BC I come up with 1914 Not that that's numerology tho'... That's just bad math based on wrong historical dates stemming from a biblical prophecy... Wait... Prophecy is bad too, isn't it??
