Going from simplistic to complex will always confuse the masses. Getting a chart to try to describe the whole scenario and with only one biblical verse without using any additional versus from Matt to Rev, is problematic at best. I work in business and I can say that complex models are often better than simplistic ones, because they include more of the relevant details....HOWEVER, the trade off for this increasing accuracy is a reduction of clarity. For more clarity you need more scriptures, more examples and they couldn't produce that. -

Overlapping generation pushed me to the brink
by Anator inhello, i haven't posted for a number of years.
i've been struggling for years of wrestling in my mind regarding the organization.
i guess the big thing for me to push me over the edge is the generation overlapping thingy.

Hi John, thanks for the references. There are many 'End Time' religions, but to your point, I will do my research to see if any other than the Watchtower is preaching this. Because the Watchtower is saying "The time is near". That's been happening for over 100 years. WOW! -

xjwsrock - thank you, that was a point I wanted to make. The video explained by Splaine with the fig tree signifies special insight, which the annointed don't have...therefore, the new light, does not make sense, neither does two generations calling them as one.
Plus from the 1995 Watertower it said "However, we "bring a heart of wisdom in," not by speculating about how many years or days make up a generation, but by thinking about how we "count our days" in bringing joyful praise to Jehovah. "
BUT, overlapping generations does just that, once again speculating of how many years make up a generation!! Where is that "heart of wisdom". Reviewing and tracking the statements of old is driving me crazy.

The bible is a record of old and we are always referring to it, BUT the literature of old is never really referenced....or..NEVER paraphrased anywhere! I never really paid attention to that before. Now I can see why.
btw... thanks for the clarification regarding the annointed and the FDS. However it is the FDS that distributes the food at the proper time and the annointed are basically in the same kind of class (domestics) as the other sheep. Therefore, I still see a discrepancy. Therefore, does the annointed have any special insight to discern versus the FDS? I thought they didn't. Very confusing.

Hello, I haven't posted for a number of years. I've been struggling for years of wrestling in my mind regarding the organization. So much to tell. I guess the big thing for me to push me over the edge is the Generation overlapping thingy. I was asking questions such as...."well, if the annointed discerned the sign of 1914, uhhh, how is this possible when a recent understanding of the annointed was described as that they were not officially annointed until 1919? I mean they are saying that the annointed discerned the time of 1914, but the recent understanding is changed of when the annointed came to be. I tell them I don't get it. Also, they didn't understand fully of the annointed class until years later. I asked them this question. Does this mean that Russel was NOT of the annointed, to which they replied....correct, he was not. Ok, wait a minute, then how could he discern something of which he was not? See why I am confused? I was encouraged not to spread these types of doubts. My son, who was DF'd as an apostate gave me only society literature to prove some of his points. Historical stuff. Egads! Not once did Russell state that the end times started in 1914, it was always discerned back then as the end of the world or the big 'A'!! Perhaps, most of everyone here knows that! Their literature of old uncovers everything!! I got addicted to finding out everything of old. All of the quotes of today of referencing of what was discerned before 1914 is not true! I can't find a one. It was freaky to say the least. I don't get it. Why the need to divert? Why not call a spade a spade? To say this is the truth, why not just state the truth? Why dance around this? It will never be the same for me. -

Did you know that God will terminate your supervisors employment, and give you their old job?
by Theocratic Sedition inaccording to the wt study yesterday, that's what happened.. 16. by allowing jehovah to instruct us and lead us in the path of uprightness, we will have no cause for fear.
when a regular pioneer in the united states applied for a job that would help him to keep his entire family in full-time service, his supervisor told him that he would never get that position without a college degree.
had this happened to you, would you have regretted pursuing full-time service to the exclusion of seeking higher education?

Quote from George Carlin: Religion convinced the world that there's an invisible man in the sky who watches everything you do. And there's 10 things he doesn't want you to do or else you'll to to a burning place with a lake of fire until the end of eternity. But he loves you! ...And he needs money! He's all powerful, but he can't handle money!

Watchtower Dishonesty
by Vanderhoven7 injust re-discovered this gem:.
"it is a matter of fact that the history of the watchtower society is riddled with failed date-setting and abandoned doctrine,1 and the society has gone to great lengths to hide this past from its members.
older (incriminating) watchtower publications are virtually impossible to obtain through the society,2 while at the same time members are overwhelmed with "current" watchtower material.. the watchtower society has even gone as far as to publish disinformation about its own history in an attempt to convince readers that watchtower doctrine has remained consistent over the years, and that the society is not a false prophet.

If you believed in one thing that no longer holds merit then own up to it, explain the reason with the why's and evidence to explain the why. I wouldn’t have a problem if they did this. I found this true with science. When science studies the planets they thought one thing was true but further examination revealed that their pass assumption was incorrect and updated there current studies and reported their findings on the matter. But here is the problem with the WTS, the WTS does some sort of psychology for its members as if those early teachings never existed. Sometimes they’ll phrase things like ‘some have previously thought’ as if they never said it themselves. Wait a minute!! Here it is in your own articles! If you try to bring this up to any active members they don’t want to hear it thinking it is from an apostate source.

The first paragraph states that God does not micro-manage his servants, but my goodness, his servants do that in the congregation. Elders are the highest example of micro-managing, and they are creating a Hugh problem. They believe that they must check on every detail, their style is symptomatic of insecurity or paranoia. This style is based on a lack of faith and trust in other people. And, it is repressive. It leads to little growth, it discourages any personal growth of self-development, it focuses on problems of detail, and discourages teamwork and mis-trust with one another in the congregation. Eventually it may bring about the failure of a congregation. This was one of my biggest pet peeves.

Is it hypocritical for JWs to sue over religious discrimination on the job, or school, etc.?
by Theocratic Sedition inat the meetings, in the literature, even the social enviroment mandated upon a born-in, it's constantly reinforced that "we're no part of the world.
" considering jesus and paul's example, they didn't instigate legal proceedings, but were forced to be the subject of such due to the opposition they recieved.
matter fact, jesus didn't even bother defending himself, while paul only defended himself based upon his roman citizenship and the rights afforded him, not to mention the importance he placed up spearheading missionary work.. that said, where's the scriptural precedence for litigation when a jw feels he/she's been treated unfairly on the job over matters like needing vacation time to attend a convention, or holiday participation?

The scenario you are describing is prevelant to most JWs in that they believe they are being presecuted for his names sake, therefore accepting abuse or presecution is this case can be viewed as a good thing in JWs eyes. However, Jesus stood up to many things including presecution of the pharasees. You forget that JWs and other religions had to push for religious freedom including the right to freely preach in the door to door work, therefore, I find your arguement somewhat conflicting.
