I live in a community with mostly single profession people in their 40's and 50's. Most of us know each other well. We all seem to own cats and/or dogs. When one of us goes on vacation there is always someone to take care of the abandoned pet(s). Three years ago I was taking care of a lady's 4 cats for 3 weeks. Daily feeding and cleaning out 4 cat boxes. One day on the way out of her house I grabbed a bottle of rum - leaving a quick note saying I took it and will replace it (which I did). She never asked me again to take care of her cats - and she let the neighbors know I was out of line. Well, last week she was out of town again and another neighbor was taking care of the cats. This new pet sitter borrowed a bottle of wine (leaving a note). The cat lady was furious! My BF agrees whole heartedly with the cat lady. I do not understand, if someone has the code to my home than they are welcome to anything in the fridge, pantry, wine cabinet etc. I love that people feel comfortable and help themselves when they come over, whether I am home or not. My BF thinks taking something (even with the intent to replace) is VERY WRONG. Input please........

Excellent article! In my 20 year marriage, my ex made it known from the very beginning of our marriage that my family and any friends I had prior to the marriage were history. He was very emotionally abusive, often threatening to take me to the elders whenever we had the slightest disagreement. It was a terrible way to live, but I do have to say (in light of the recent Wt article) he was never, ever physically abusive. I am so thankful for that, especially after reading so many horror stories this last week about physical abuse.
so my wife and i survived leaving the jw faith together over the course of the last 4 years.
it was a wild ride for our relationship, but thankfully we are stronger than ever.
so looking back, here is my observation about the "threefold cord", at least the jw version of it.. i believe the idea of the threefold cord actually weakens a marriage, keeping it less mature.
I believe a lot of witnesses will marry any available witness as long as they have a beating heart. It does not matter that they have absolutely NOTHING in common, because they believe they love Jehovah, they will put Jehovah first and Jehovah will in turn bless the marriage even though they NOTHING in common.
Speaking from experience when you have nothing in common it just does not work.
have anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?
Open Mind...I shared this article with one of my neighbors this morning...This is the email he just sent me
I must be living in a parallel universe somewhere. Let's see..... it's okay for a spouse to smack another spouse; it's acceptable for a "growed ass" man to shower with boys....... I just need to pray to Tebow.....

She was taught how to take a lickin' and keep on tickin' After 17 years of scratching his head, the husband wanted to find alternate ways to abuse - thus baptism.
Talesin- I love the Sooners too, but not as much as I love my OSU Cowboys. Wow! They are hot this year. After tonight's game, they will be 11-0.
I also think they are going kick Sooners arse on Dec 3rd.
Anyone want to put money on that game?
i'll start the ball rolling.
dealing with kids in any type of judicial manner.
i would do everything i could to get parents to "deal with it-kindly" at home.
It was about 1990 when Louise Zenke was disfellowshipped for enjoying alcohol too much. She was in her 80's, raised 4 super zelous kids (the two sons being real heavy weights at Bethel- norman and howard). She had been faithful and zealous her whole life. How 3 elders could not forgive a senile old woman for drinking too much (in the privacy of her home) I will never understand. She did not drive - so it was not like she was going to run someone over.
