I hope Ray Franz lives on for many more years. However, if he were to pass I was just thinking. Wouldn't it be great if a huge crowd showed up to his service? Think of it. A man who was supposed to be shunned- celebrated by so many.

who likes Battlestar Gallactica?
by Dogpatch ini am curious how many of you watch this.
i find it far more fascinating than many other shows, but i am biased, always had a flair for traditional horror as well as quality sc-fi.
but the producers intentionally dumb down the special effects (filmed in hd but virtually posterized for effect outdoors) so as to focus on the plot lines and character development.

The most inappropriate remarks from Jehovahs Witnesses
by jambon1 ini have a few which still either anger me, make me sad or just make me grateful that i am no longer one of them.
1 - "well, everyone is going to die anyway, so if it at armageddon then ce la vie" 2 - "the disater today at the world trade centre is sad, but exciting" 3 - (an elder) "when armageddon happens, i want to be at a window, watching it all".
sick, sick, sick!

Elder visiting me because I'm inactive: "So is the reason you're getting cable so you can watch dirty movies?" (Yeah, that's encouraging- I really want to come back now! Bastard.)

hopefully they can benefit others, like many of yours have benefited me!
being raised in the wtbts, the jehovahs witness docrine and culture really was the prism from which all of my experiences and understanding of life originated.

Actually the story I heard was that two pioneers sisters got their hours in and celebrated by taking a cruise. One of the sisters drank too much, danced with a guy, and ended up sleeping with him. The next day he gave her a gift. When she opened the present it was a little coffin with a note that said "Welcome to the world of AIDS". The point was to never let our guard down.
So was the Kingdom Melody thread that you enjoyed the one I started about "the molested bees" lyrics?
Welcome to the board!

suicide and explosion at Kingdom Hall on Sat. July 27
by kool aid man06 ina bizarre explosion at a church east of kansas city killed one man on saturday afternoon.
atf agents said the explosion at the jehovah's witness' kingdom hall on foggy bottom drive was intentionally set, and that the person who died appears to have committed suicide.
witnesses described large amounts of smoke pouring out of the building, which they said was just recently completed.

An announcement was made at our hall that the man was "mentally unstable". The emphasis of the announcement was that the Hall would be rebuilt in time for its dedication. The show must go on! I told my wife that the important thing was the man's life. The whole announcement felt tacky to me.

144.000
by Newborn inall those in the org who claims to belong to this class, are they just imagining it?
this has always been one of the big proof for me that this was the "truth".
that there actually are those who have the heavenly calling...it confuses me.... appreciate your thoughts on this.. have anyone in this forum, previously, claimed to belong to this group and can explain it, how it feels etc.?.

Every one of the 144,000 that I've ever might seemed mentally unstable... at least the ones who suddenly claimed to be of the anointed when they didn't before.
The reason the idea of a "great crowd" became necessary was because the JW membership was increasing past 144,000 and they had to have an explanation for it.
In reality the great crowd are Gentile Christians as opposed to a "little flock" of Jews who became Christians. The actual 144,000 number is symbolic, not literal.
