When, if ever, did you start caring about POLITICS?
by Open mind ini've said a few times on here that i'm 99% mentally free of jwism, or something similar.
but i think i may need to back that number down just a bit.. i now believe that this world is all we've got and that,collectively, it matters what we as a species do on this orb if we want to continue to spread our dna indefinitely.
(some would argue that human extinction would be a good thing, but i'm not in that camp.

This reminds me of a recent Watchtower study. People were making comments on a picture in the magazine. In the picture an old man is looking at a picture of a woman. Someone made a comment that he was looking forward to the time when his wife would be resurrected. I turned to my wife and said, "Um... it won't matter because the dead supposedly don't marry."

My wife and I usually dated without a chaperone before getting married. One day we were in a store and ran into another brother. I thought quickly on my feet. "Have you seen my girlfriend's sister?" I asked the brother. "She was just here a minute ago. She's probably on the other side of the store. Well, I'd better go look for her." Darn- my chaperone and I lost track of each other yet again!

Awakened at Gilead you are right. Apparently I am posting under the influence. But using statements that would shock most dubs like "apostasy is the cure" tends to cut through the crap and get people's attention faster than using terms like "deprogram". Be patient with me. I am reading alot and it's going to take time. I'm going to get there though!

Labeling people "worldly"

Take my name Jimmy Page for example. On the one hand you could label Jimmy as a spiritistic immoral drug addict. And you would be right. But then you would be missing out on the beauty and power of Zeppelin's music. Instead of labelling it "heavy metal" Page himself said that his music consisted of large degrees of "light and shade".
I remember playing "In Through The Out Door" at home. When my dad heard it he instantly noticed the album bounced from a latin feel to country, to blues, and beyond. I remember when he wanted to watch my copy of "The Song Remains The Same". I didn't think he would get it. But he loved the part where drummer John Bonham raced his hot rods. Dad used to work in a pit crew himself pre-cult.
Maybe I shouldn't label Dad as a hopeless Dub. Maybe I should try to connect with his pre-cult identity by discussing those things that interested him in life prior to becoming a Witness. Maybe then I will see his own large degrees of "light and shade".

I had worldly friends. I took classes. I saw movies. I went to work. Nothing opened my eyes like apostasy. The worldly friends don't understand your upbringing. Your indoctrination can deflect opposing views from movies and workmates. Real progress can only be made by understanding the true nature of the WTBTS. And to open your mind to that means apostasy.
