LOL... my in-laws are big on herbs too. There was a sister in the cong I grew up in who was into the coffee enemas... and these kind of people always try to drag others into it too.

Muscle testing, applied kinesiology, and just plain being wrongheaded
by JimmyPage inmy wife's family have been jws for generations.
we all know that the watchtower had crazy ideas about health early on and were usually at odds with the medical community.
so it's no surprise that my in-laws are big on non-traditional ways of treating ailments.. but for years now the society has printed articles and preached in assembly talks against applied kinesiology, or muscle testing.

JWN is enjoying a renaissance!
by Mickey mouse inthe past few months we've welcomed a lot of newbies who have contributed a lot to this forum.
some quality discussions are taking place, the likes of which i haven't seen here for a while.
in addition, many are taking action to expose the watchtower society for who they really are.

I have to say, I agree... it feels like the Society is being exposed like never before. Millions are now flooding from impure worship to the mountain of JWN. May it continue until the demise of the WT!

Panic Attacks
by trailerfitter inhi, i was reading on here a while ago that some of you guys and girls suffer from panic attacks.
how common is this in the jws?
the wife had a bible study today and i was sort of listening looking for a discussion point.

Years ago I was the WT reader and had a panic attack onstage. If anyone noticed they never said anything. I know it was a product of all the pressure being a JW puts on you. I also know that going to a meeting or assembly makes my shoulders knot up. Thank The Flying Spaghetti Monster for massage therapists!

Many JWs act shocked when they have to be in the hospital and the staff treats them nice. It's like everything they've been told about the medical community was a lie. :)

Zen Living Part 22 (summarized): Zen-powered Creativity
by JimmyPage increativity isn't some aspect of you.
you are an expression of creative energy.. drawing, writing, or playing music as zazen are effective and illuminating forms of meditation.. zen poetry is an ancient art in which the poet expresses through language, as directly as possible, the experience of the present moment.. a zen approach to art appreciation means experiencing art directly, without thinking about it, comparing it to anything, or judging it.
such experiencing makes the difference between great art and lesser art more apparent.. .

Refusing blood, surviving, and brain damage- your experiences?
by JimmyPage inthe reason i bring this up is because my father went through an extended illness, refused blood, and would later act extremely confused.
granted, he was on drugs like morphine, and my jw family often blamed his behavior on that, but i suspect there was more to it than that.
i'm not discounting the drugs at all, it's just that sometimes my father became almost childlike and simple at times, even when his drug regimen was altered.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Did they read books like "Eating For Your Blood Type"? Were they afraid of the evils of immunizations? They once got on to me because my driver's license said I was an organ donor. I mean, how outdated were their ideas?

And yet they probably thought they were super Witnesses, right? I mean, how do you justify this superstitious nonsense "in light of present truth"? (gag-sorry)
