an open letter to jehovahs witnesses.
you may not remember, but i know you very well.
i met you a long time ago when you came to my house with your smiling faces, your neat clothes, and your soft voices and a bible tucked neatly under your arm.

back in september of 08 my mom died, and both of my parents had been jw's since 1978.. in the mid 80's they moved down south to retire.
and she was the type of person who remembered everyones anniversary, if someone got .
sick, or died she would send a card, flowers, to the family or call.. even years after they moved away !.
Thank you everyone for your comments, I really do appreciate them all
I find it amazing that for years the scripture in John 13:35,
"your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples" (new living translation)
was one of the main reasons I remained loyal to the wtbts. I really believed that they followed this admonition.
After reading some of the comments posted above, my jaw literally dropped.
Aude Sapere's story regarding his cancer treatment, and Blondie's story,,, completely opposite from what this scripture states.
I'm truly sorry that you both had to go through that stuff,,, you both must have a "core of steel" to successfully get out of there with
a level head !
Thanks again for the comments.
that is exactly what i told someone in field service once.
i went to the door with another brother, and started my presentation.
i noticed the lady was crying and asked if everything was ok. she said that they just got back from the vet, and that they had to put the cat to sleep.
Look at the bright side, you don't have to do that again !

When she died only 5 people made an effort to send a card, (I was baptized in 79, and raised my family in the same hall all
these years). I started to fade back in late 2006.
An announcement was made at the service meeting, and phone numbers, and addresses were posted on the info. board at the hall
While looking at the cards yesterday, I remember one person told me that I needed to come back to the hall so that " everyone could
let me know how sorry they were ".
Is this a normal practice ? They cannot even send a card, make a phone call, or stop off before/during/or after service for a minute unless you are
a totally normal and active witness ?
Does the PO, elders, or gb have that much control over basic human behavior ?
By the way, that comment about coming back created a very creepy feeling in me. I wrote my DA letter several months later.
Sorry for the rambling, but at the time I was so mad and upset, now I feel like I have finally walked off the set of the twilight zone.

volunteer humane investigator for the state (large animals). I need to get certified by the state every two years.
own a therapy dog, we visit nursing homes, local hospital, and the library. They have a "read to the dogs" program for young kids who
have trouble reading.
I also keep an eye on several older ladies who live in our neighborhood. I shovel their drives in the snow, trim their trees and bushes in the summer,
and cook dinner for them several times in the winter when the weather is bad.
this afternoon i was talking to one of my sons (25 yrs old) and he was telling me stories about how he felt as a young jw.
some of the stories were pretty sad.. it got me thinking ,, the elders were real "micromanagers" when it came to young kids at the meetings.. we were not allowed to bring books outside of the wt, no alphabet, picture, or counting type books .. also food was a big no-no.
when my kids were toddlers, we would bring cheerios, small stuff like that.. the wizards would bellow from the stage, "you should not feed your kids, take care of that before the meetings.. after that time, i still brought food with, we just made several trips down to the basement during the meetings.. out in service on a 95 degree day no shade, kids and parents were advised to keep your tie on.

Out in service on a 95 degree day no shade, kids and parents were advised to KEEP YOUR TIE ON. One elder actually had the nerve to tell me
not to take a break ( hot humid morning with two infant boys) because we needed to get a complete morning out in the field.
The truth was that he was pioneering that month. We ignored him and took a break, and he and his wife sat out in the car enveloped in a self rightous cloud of BO. man that was a hot day.
Any other stories about child control in this religion ?
we must hate in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme and active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest.
surely any haters of god are not fit to live on his beautiful earth.

58 years old,,, this is now OLD light.
just want to hear what other people think,.
by the way our cong.
had a "needs" talk warning people not to watch this movie.. i have to say however that after watching it, i almost went to elders to confess my 'apostate sins,' in order to survive that big day..
I didn't see it,, have no need to watch Hollywood hype like that.
And if you had a desire to talk to the elders afterwards,,,,, THAT is dangerous
I like the one with pink lips
wasn't that one "seven of nine " ?
