How many DF'ed on this board have actually had...
by tenyearsafter inhow many disfellowshipped ones on this board have actually had follow up elder visits "encouraging" them to return to the meetings?.
i have been df'ed for 15 years now, and i have never had one visit (i am not saying that is a bad thing!
) from an elder encouraging me to return to the organization.

I can't say it is mind control. I do believe that they practice the truth so I would have to say that I feel the need to go but people keep me away
I may be over-simplifying here but - if they are practicing The Truth™ then people should be drawing you, not keeping you away. That alone would make me question the whole concept of their version of Truth™

I have a touchy situation...could use some advice
by tenyearsafter ini just got an e-mail from my 80 year old mother asking my wife and i to join her for the memorial this year.
i really don't want to go, but i am also trying to maintain some degree of a relationship with her.
she is breaking the "rules" by not shunning me, but i don't know how she will react if i reject her invitation.

I think I would have to be getting drunk before licking the cat clean!
Go with your gut....... if it were me I'd go but I'm DF'd and I'll be blowed if I am going to be snubbed by all and sundry. Such is conditional love.

Teel ...... sorry, just re-read what I'd written. Does seem like I'm spouting off at you - not the case at all. I was referring to the website, instructing me how to get around his/her crappy design.
I do know, indeed, realise you were joking. I take nearly everything I read on the internet as a joke until it doesn't make laugh, then I reckon it could be serious.

how long in truth,,,what was the final "straw"
by peaches ini was in for 30 years.....my ex was an elder...."holy spirit appointed" he tortured me....i was married 33+ years....you know,,,marriage is sacred...you can leave,,,i know,,,,if abuse is intolerable....but that starts a series of events...etc etc etc....i finally left everything...and moved far away.....people actually believe "holy spirit" appoints people,,,my ex would not pray unless there was an audience...you know,,,,people invited over for supper kind of thing,,,you get the point..... my best friend had a mental breakdown,,,,she basically became psychotic.....had to be hospitalized....she took up smoking,,,got disfellowshipped...and lost all emotional support....to this day,,,,as far as i know,,,she is still disfellowshipped...needs to be hospitialized every so often....she is on complete disability.....and still trying to get back into the org....her mother does support some what,,,,even though she is a witness herself,,,,,takes her to assemblies,,,,memorial,,,etc,,,,this has gone on for years.....she cannot mentally handle the organization,,,nor can she mentally handle not being a witness...lost everything....guilt....etc..... did not mean to ramble on so much......i have mental scars that will not go away....because i stayed in a "mess" for god,,,,i could write page after page of things like the above....as being my "last straw".......curious about you here on the board....any specific "breaking point" or a collection of many things..... thanks for your in put...peaches.

Has to be their hypocritical stance over the UN issue and their trifling reasons behind it.
Many 'straws' really but that one broke the camel's back

When do I have to be told how to read something..... oh, hang on. That would've been before 2002 for 35 years when I was told how to do everything!
