  Why is the Bible silent about the real Israel/Egyptian connections?

  the bible does connect egypt and israel (including judah), but does not tell the truth about the connection.. an exhibition at the israel museum tells a clearer story.. it tells of two periods of connection;.

  the first connection around 1800 to 1550 bce when canaanites settled in the eastern section of the nile river delta.

  it seems this is the era that saw the development of stories like the joseph story and the mose's story.

  Because the Bible was edited, and a lot of the more fantastic gospels and other books are in Coptic and Ethiopic. There was the scientific and linguistic argument against these books, but if the Canonical books were held to that same rigorous standard today, Genesis and Revelation would be out.

  How hot are the Muslimas and the Jewesses in your neck of the woods should be the barometer for whether you circumcise your son or not. The anti argument has merit, but marriage and relationship prospects matter depending on where you live and your family background. There are an awful lot of wealthy and gorgeous Muslimas and Jewesses here in California, and I worry about the pain a young man might have to face if he pursues one with an eye on marriage. Young women have the money more than young men nowadays.

  i was inspired to write this after listening to a recent podcast of the thinking atheist by seth andrews.

  as many of you know, seth was a devout christian who not only loved contemporary christian music but was one of the hosts of a popular morning show on kxoj in tulsa, oklahoma in the 1990s.

  Nothing more awesome than being the nonbelieving husband chauffeur blasting Bob Marley playing "We'll be forever loving Jah" while pulling into the KH parking lot sporting a beard long hair wayfarers handlebar moustache and a cowboy hat and getting a backhanded compliment, "nice bass." by some elder, to which I reply "thank you!" then getting a talk by my wife that I totally brush off with a "whatever."

  are jehovah's witnesses on their way to practicing amish style rumspringa?

  basically pushing young people out into the world and seeing who comes back with their faith intact.

  after so many generations of discouraging education, it seems like an easy way to ensure that there are some educated born-ins.

  Well the polygamists in Utah do basically the same thing. They became so authoritarian that they created an atmosphere of hostility toward the next generation of young men so that they can have the young women.

  It seems like the more millenarian the JWs become, the more they glorify the older generation as the older generation can't bear the thought that the crescendo of history at Armageddon doesn't happen in their generation, thus making their faith and their life insignificant. The temptation to take their frustration out on the next generation will be there.

  what do you think of this show and is it a good way to discuss end times eschatology topics with my wife?

  somehow i imagine the new heaven and new earth being a let down full of flawed characters, especially if they're jws.

  It's too much like real life, less people means less drama, so the scenarios are limited, but that makes me think of how boring a world with just JWs would be.

  i don't post here too much..i am more of a lurker.

  but, wanted to share recent conversation with jw family member.. one of my jw relatives recently went to visit another jw relative that is "serving where the need is great",.

  when my jw relative returned home and i was talking with him, who is an older jw who has been in for over 50 years, was so excited to tell me about the special talk.
