I remember the atheist who kept all the commands of the Bible for a year. The best part was when an old man told him that he used to cheat on his late wife and the guy started tossing pebbles at him so that he could keep the commandment to stone the adulterer. Everyone around thought he was crazy.

How would you summarize the basic message of the Watchtower versus the Bible?
by Fernando infor me personally:.
watchtower - don't sin, don't question, don't think, don't reason, don't leave, or god will kill you in hell the big a.. bible - all dysfunction aka the "bad news" has been legally defeated by the "good news".. (i believe we are therefore free to begin naturally and progressively transitioning from a primitive type-0 civilisation if and when we choose to and when consensus reaches critical mass.
we will become a more advanced type-1 civilisation in the next 100 years according to michio kaku in "physics of the future".).

The Bible :God became man so that man might become Godly by practicing unconditional love.
The Watchtower: God is a harsh father whose love is conditional, so you better meet all his conditions without question, which obviously carries over into how JW parents raise their kids.

DO JW's do a FAIR job of SAVING people--or--is the premise ridiculous?
by Terry infigures don't lie...but liars figure!.
the message for those babies who are now in their 30's and 40's is that "we warned your parents about a date that meant nothing!".
how does that wash credibility-wise?.

Maybe in non-christian countries, but now that we live in the information age, any christian can google the right rebuttal. In area with educated people it is a waste of time. So they can say the homeless are closer to God. But today even the homeless have smartphones!

My favorite subject. What is so ironic is how opposed JWs are to homosexuality yet all the men have feminized faces. The military confuses me for the same reason. If your dad doesn't have a beard you've got two mums. Perhaps Pilate, who repented and became a Christian?

Want to get JW friends' thoughts on their "new" preaching methods.
by compound complex inthe subject of jw.org and its tentacles reaching everywhere has already been discussed at length; however, jw kith and kin are going gangbusters on social media.
i lost it when i saw da vinci's most famous lady wearing a jw.org button as a brooch.
in hand, she had a tract, which i assumed had not yet been perused (she was distracted, apparently, while posing for the real master).. my dear and otherwise studious jws -- many very good at preaching and in human relations -- are obeying wt directives and just handing out the tracts in service and advertising up a storm on the internet.

Since my favorite line for ages was "I don't want to contribute to deforestation, what's the name of your website?" I guess folks on public transport heard it and it became a convenient refrain.

Its funny, the religious organization to which I have historically claimed loyalty to was led by a Prophet who wanted nothing online associated officially with his organization. A good portion of the members are self promoting, at least in LA, in the entertainment industry so they all have websites or are at least on facebook. We stress education just barely a little more than we stress partying, unfortunately perhaps more than personal morals and are often mistaken for a college fraternity.
This request is honored because he was a Prophet. I think it was his way of having a Secret Society without admitting that it was a secret society, just to see who really cares enough to use snail mail and come in person. He believed in Higher Education but he personally (just a generational thing) didn't like but didn't curse the Internet. Maybe I should go to the Kingdom Hall and rescue those who still think that JW.ORG is wrong and the internet is evil, so that the stupidest of the stupid might be able to join my old congregation and find a spiritual reason to get a college degree to compensate for their stupidity, and get to have a little fun while they're at it.
Its much better to believe that you need to get a masters degree so you can emigrate to a 4th world country and complete the prophecy of the 144,000 in a peaceful humanitarian right good will way, than to knock on doors straight out high school warning of the 144,000 of the Lost Generation coming down from heaven with Jesus to kill everyone who didn't convert. Spiritual backwardness is much worse than technological backwardness.

IRAN and Syria Join the Fight Against ISIL and ISIS! Russia too!
by BucketShopBill inthe powers that funded isis would be the next logical leaders to topple if they are not stopped.
syria learned the hard way, syria gave weapons to fight against the west's (cia sponsored muslims) screwed up anti-syria's government troops.
isis in return started to march towards allepo killing men, women and children that refused to convert to their animalistic cult.

Isis is crazy. They think that the mosques have become idols and are destroying the mosques. The funny thing is that the Jehovah's witnesses would probably pay the jizya (head tax on non-believers) and think they were instruments of Jehovah's plan. Dubs do believe in paying their taxes.

WT required to submit financials in Mexico starting in 2015
http://www.elsiglodedurango.com.mx/noticia/535395.con-el-nuevo-regimen-fiscal-la-iglesia-catolica-pagara-impuestos-.html.
roughly traslated: the requirements of the new fiscal system require: to record electronically a ledge of all income and expenses; to record and document all operations, acts or activities, to send a registed monthly report through sat's (kind of like the irs in the us) website, submit comprobante fiscal digidtal por internet (cfdi) (sort of tax form) .

I think it has something to do with certain religious cults in Mexico being used by the narcotraficantes to launder money and recruit.

Why do Christian nations think they can assimilate Muslims into their communities , does Islam attempt to assimilate Christians in their communities ?
by smiddy inislam /muslims today are what christianity was centuries ago , the two beleif systems are like oil and water , not to be mixed .
christians are not tolerated spreading their infectious disease amongst muslims, in islamic countrys , and harsh penalties apply for them doing so in muslim countries , including the death penalty.
stonings , whippings etc.. on the other hand christian nations are very tolerant of muslim extremists who incite hatred and violence on their own territory , and they get a slap on the wrist and say dont do it again .

The only Islam that is compatible with Western Culture is the esoteric Islam of the Nizari Ismali (pronounced Smiley) followers of the Aga Khan. If my kid wants to marry a Muslima, she better be a Smiley Muslima.
The big difference is that they don't believe in Sharia and they believe their Aga Khan to be a living Qur'an. They dress like regular people. Rita Hayworth married the previous Aga Khan
They don't seek converts, in fact they make it hard to convert, just like in Judaism. It seems like religions that discourage conversion tend to have followers that are extremely educated because they focus on inwardly cultivating the congregation. They are a little creepy in that their religious meetings are closed to the public. And they tithe their money to the Aga Khan who goes around funding beautiful architecture and starting NGOs. The International Baccalaureate Program in your kids school district...underwritten by the Aga Khan. The guy is as wealthy as the Queen of England.
They fascinate me because they explode every stereotype about Muslims. I wish all Muslims could be like them.
