No shit? I'll have to check that link. No, I'm not a mason. I am your average DF'd JW. It's just an online name I came up with, didn't know it had mason ties. I always liked the way Phoenix sounded, but didn't like the spelling.

Don't be anxious about. Try and remember that you are NOT the one who's done anything wrong. All you're doing is asking someone to state facts. NOTHING wrong with that. And if you wish to remain annonymous about it all I'm sure they'll respect that. You contacted them for a reason, so there's obviously at least a part of you that wants it to happen. Ride the wave and it will all work out ;)

How many years before you left did you realise it was not the truth?
by jambon1 ini was only in for 10 years.
however, i never feel that i 100% believed it all, even at the point of baptism.. i think after the initial period of 'love' shown on the part of the brothers, i must have only been a baptised brother for about 4 years when i knew it was all wrong on so many different levels.. i remember a sister saying to me "once they have got you under the water, that's when you see the real way they treat you".
it all changed after baptism.

I was never fully convinced in everything they taught, but I also didn't think anything specifically was wrong. I just knew I didn't like it. I knew that I didn't like the feeling of having to work to be a good person and to be righteous through my works instead of my heart. And really non of the stuff studied ever really made sense, not that I didn't understand what they were saying, but I always struggled with why they made such issues about things that they did, how they came to some conclusions, etc. etc. But because of what my father told me, that my issues stemmed from my grandfathers abuse because he put bad things in my head, and once I seperated that from my issues with the religion I'd see it was "the truth," I just let it all go. When I was disfellowshipped I didn't go back because I couldn't take the hypocrisy, and I told myself that even IF I didn't make into "paradise Earth" I was ok with that because if it meant I had to live my life with people like that I didn't want it.
It wasn't until about a year or two after I was DF'd that I started seriously questioning the entire basis of "the truth." -

blueviceroy:
I agree with much of what you said. I think that's a very succinct way to put things. I do believe there are those, still inside the organization, who honestly believe they're doing the right thing. Which saddens me, however it is their choice. Just as we all have made the choice to leave they have chosen to stay. I don't attribute any purposeful harmful intentions to them, I think they're misled as to their part in a disugusting entity.
On a side note, does anyone know why my profile refuses to list my age, location and pic? :/ -

Not too long after I was DF'd I got a black tribal piece, on the inside of my right arm, with a Biohazard symbol in the middle ;);) I thought that was fitting since apparently I was "dangerious material" for my unscriptural actions, it was kind of a setting myself free/stay the hell away from me statement. -

wow, some very awesome thoughts so far! Awake and Watching: I was listening to that song this morning on the way to work, totally a great application. Blueblades: That is quite an inciteful thought. I've never thought of it in that sense, that a solitary belief has led to so many actions that have affected millions of people for over a century. I suppose it goes to show the power of even just one thought or belief, regardless of whether it's right or wrong.

Very nice! looks good. I remember how good it felt when I got my eyebrow pierced (even though I had to take it out a year later cause of work). But then I got my tattoo and that was great :) I like the ears too, nice!

Hello All :) So I'm curious to get your opinions. In your minds what is the worst part of the WTBS? The abuse issue, money, false teachings/doctrines, control? Obviously all of them are horrible and reason to not be a part of the religion. But what has affect you the most? I've been doing a lot research lately into the WTBS in general, and it seems everyday I come across yet another aspect of them that at the very least is less than desireable. So, for you, what's been the worst?
