  What about Jehovah taking care of stupid things?

  like that time my sweet dear mother told me that she had lost her house keys, and she looked everywhere.

  couldn't find them.

  she was worried, and to top it off, late for her meeting at the kh, so she asked jehovah to help her find her keys and, you know?

  Hey Rev!!

  Your comment about how your mom "asked Jehovah to help her find her keys" made me laugh. I've heard my mom saying exactly the same thing dozens of times! And she almost cry every time, thanking Jehovah for his help...

  There's an essay from Carl Sagan called "The pale blue dot", that I really like. (You can see it here: http://www.planetary.org/explore/topics/voyager/pale_blue_dot.html). There he explains how the earth looks from 4 billion miles away, and how our whole history is contained in that "pale blue dot".

  This thread made me think that If God created the Universe, with millions and millions of Galaxies, with billions and billions of stars, do you really think that he cares about helping you to find some lost keys????!!!!

  Now that I'm unplugged, I see things in a complete different way...

  And as you said... Poor Mom!!

  After watching the Matrix the generation change make sense!

  gotcha!.

  it still doesn't make sense but this little quote from the matrix explains why they when back to a 1927 doctrine, just a little deja vu.... trinity: a deja vu is usually a glitch in the matrix.

  it happens when they change something.. i guess i have to much free time to think.

  i didn't even know i was supposed to.. does that mean my baptism is invalid and i am not a jw?...

  I was 17 years old, and most of my friends were babtized already... Peer pressure kicked in!

  ANY happy memories at all of growing up as a JW?

  does anyone have any good memories at all of beng raised a jw?

  the cong i was brought up in was a different one to the ones we were in when we got married.

  growing up the meetings were a great social event for all us kids.

  It is kind of strange, but in my case, I don't have many complaints about growing up as a JW... Maybe I was "lucky" of having the parents I have.

  My parents weren't that "hardcore", although they still are strong believers. (My dad is an Elder too). They never bothered me with the music I heard, or the movies I liked. The only moments when my dad became "strong", was when the CO was visiting (He was a real ass***). I went to college and did an Associate's degree. From certain point of view, I was kind of "normal" for non-witnesses.

  On the other hand, I think I behaved too well . I took the moral standards quite seriously. I married my best friend @ 24 years old, and have been happily married for the last 10 years. Never smoked, no premarital sex... Kind of boring for some people!!!

  My only problem now is that I don't believe anymore in the WT, but all my family and friends are in. That makes fading very difficult for me...

  RisingEagle: Some time ago, a friend told me that he read that the monk that invented the name used the vocals from "Elohim" and "Addonai" with the tetragramathon (YHWH), in order to read "Jehovah". If I find the information, I will post the source.
