dear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.
Sunday afternoon. Bright sunshine but a cool 43F in my part of the world. I hear a lawn mower...probably the last time I hear this sound for a while.
Made some fudge this morning...with pecans...yummy:-) Sat here, read some threads. Some people are having fun...some are kinda arguing. And I am just about to leave to see the movie "The 11th hour"

i have noticed that if someone has an opinion that does not go with the flow on this forum they often get insulted and shot down in flames.
i thought this was a discussion forum, but i am sadly dismayed to read so much intolerance of another's opinion.
if you appear to support the jw's in any way, even though people like me may disagree with you, you are entitled to your opinion.

This being said, I also have to agree with oompa. Some people here have been through a lifetime of brainwashing, control, and abuse. They have good days and bad days. This forum sometimes become a "venting" place. And "venting" is part of healing.
My thin skin is slowly getting thicker:-) I try to always keep in mind that this is indeed a forum. People are allowed to have their own opinion, just as I am allowed to have mine. The moderators do a great jobs. Nothing is perfect. But this forum is a fine place altogether:-)

the tragic news of the day was the holocaust in southern california.
Yes, I saw that reporter in front of his burning home...

once you see "one" year, all 4 seasons, it's the same every year.
in the summer time, it's hot, in th fall, the colors are nice, in the winter it's cold, in the spring, the snow melts, and it starts all over year after year.. it's the same thing with a human life.
a man or woman lives some 70 or 80 years, then its over.. what is god waiting for to bring his new system, "paradise" ?.

or were you just thinking of the perfect, scriptural response?.
This is not "as a witness"...
But in real life, as a rule, most people don't "listen"
They look at you...hear words...but their mind is busy coming up with what they will say next.
A good listener is a rare commodity...
A good listener knows that holding your hand is often much more therapeutic than words.
