It helped me see I wasn't the only one with doubts about an organization that professes to be divinely inspired. That is a pretty difficlut thing when you have grown up and surrounded by family and friends all your life who are JW's. And not only JW's but missionaries elders pioneers co's bethelites.....Seriously I have questioned my own sanity because I just don't BELIEVE....And to this say after a family outing with everyone speaking about how the new system is right around the corner, I find great comfort in opening this forum and realizing I'm not nuts. THEY ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't put a price on peace of mind.....

Very nice sharing your story. I always like to read the life story behind the poster. It really makes us able to understand where they're coming from.

Led Zeppelin because they were all on drugs while doing the songs. (how many musicians aren't) and I had to take a Grateful Dead sticker off my car to show repentance....It was the ones with the holograms? like a skull.....So ridiculous!

Newly baptized JWs = strict, "old" JWs = not so much?
by Awakened07 inyes - it's one of my flashes of memories again:.
i remember how when someone new and really eager and zealous came along, at some point in the conversation (or later) it would be brought up how these new jws (newly baptized) were so "square" (in my language), meaning they were so strict, by-the-book, rigid.
whereas those who had been in longer were more "round", as in more relaxed, not so bothered by the "details"... i remember joking about how newly baptized people should have a year or two of "quarantine" from the field ministry, because they were being too assertive.. now that i remember it so many years later, it's actually rather interesting.

I've observed this as well. And I also can add that newly named elders are the absolute worse! I hated when they appointed a new elder because they were soooooooo by the book in the beginning.....

Good News
by Cicatrix inmy son and i were talking about our family's past involvement with the jws.
he told me he can't recall anyone we knew or any specific things we were taught at the meetings.
the only thing he remembers is that we used to give him answers when he raised his hand, so he could feel like a big boy, lol!i i'm so glad for him and his younger brother that we left when they were young (7 and 5).

Affectionate Men vs Macho Men
by Thinking of Leaving ini was watching a 2004 (re-run) episode of average joe hawaii and larissa picked the handsome, muscular man over the loving, patient, understanding not so cute man.
i'm not sure if you're familiar with the show but in it this beautiful model/actress has to choose between an average joe and a good looking guy.
they started her off with 16 average looking men and eventually threw in 8 good looking ones to heat things up a bit.

Maybe the women had some issues that made her attracted to the guy who was not paying much attention to her..I don't know but I see women who really fall for the wrong type of guy. I would say that more than chemistry it has to do with psychological reasons. The relationship with your father also is a huge factor. I can't see why a women would choose a person with good looks over one who sincerely cares for her unless
1- She is very superficial.
2 - Bad relationship with father.
just my opinion...

Beards and dress clothes...
by B_Deserter ini often wonder about the unwritten rule in kingdom halls that a witness should be in dress clothes and brothers cannot have beards (the beard rule i think is pretty much us-only though).
sure, they won't stop you from coming to a meeting in your work clothes and they might even treat you fine.
but, if you want to go anywhere in the congregation (i.e.

Beards are a huge no where I live....which seems ridiculous especially when you see business men with nicely trimmed beards all over the place......

Are we in some sort of "LAST DAYS"?
by Open mind ini'm not talking in the biblical sense necessarily.
you can argue scriptural "last days" until you're blue in the face.
(jcanon & obves make that clear on at least a weekly basis.).
