First annual cardinal song heard this morning.
Flock of robins sang this afternoon.
Five inches of snow today.
No trip to Florida this year.
I sigh and shovel more.

i've fallen down many times, but i've always managed to arise.. i know the day is coming when i will fall down and stay down until someone lifts me.. sylvia.

i thought it would be interesting to see just how many people have climbed aboard jwd within the last 6 months.
it will give us an indication on how many people are actually coming away from the borg.. i may not be replying all the time but will pop in every day of so.. lets keep this thread going and use it to welcome new ones.
may i be the first to say welcome.
September, but I was never dunked so you may not want to count me. I quit the studying until they can show me scripture on why I can't take communion. Still waiting. I think new light will shine soon.
I just found out that my nondenominational church is planning a course on understanding Witts and Mormons and would like my material. I may save my NWT but I'll be glad to offer up the rest. I'll suggest they spend some time on this site as well.
this was on our local news tonight: http://ydr.inyork.com/ci_7556263.

This time of year? Must have been the Christmas decorations. Or demons dressed like Santa's helpers.

I saw it and it was beautiful! Barbara looked great, the story was VERY well written and spoken and the horrible information on pedophiles being read over pictures of scripture-flipping hands and songbooks raised in the hall played with fine irony. My favorite statement: " The church refused to comment".
I haven't checked to see if it is on the NBC Evening News website but I'll bet it is. It just did my unbabptizied, apostasetic, fleshly heart good!
the bible is full of stories about god needing to test people, either as individuals or as a group, the most notorious being the testing.
of adam and eve.. why does an omnipotent and omniscient being need to "test" his creation?
are we like products in a factory?
On the days when I am not absolutely sure about this complicated system of Christianity (not JW stuff), I consider this. I wonder if we are God's beta version? Seriously, I know that he is (oops, He) is inerrant and all that stuff but when I think of how quickly he acted when just two people screwed up, I wonder if we weren't the first try on a planet of this size and shape.
Jesus wouldn't support calling down severe punishment on a whole species because of the behavior of only two, would he? Maybe we are somewhere on his learning curve. After all, if His inerrant self had to flood the whole place for a do-over, it makes me wonder.

I had to do a little homework to find this, I'm not going to play with it until my chores are done. I hope. Maybe just once?
next week's service meeting is gonna be a doozy.
after the local announcements there is going to be a 15-minute talk by an elder based on the november 1, 2007, watchtower, pages 17-21. .
somebody with the resources to do it really ought to scan the article and post it as a pdf, it's hilarious, frightening and nauseating all at once.
I read that article yesterday and wished the pig had been delivered, alive, to Brooklyn.
For a very different take on money and bible-readers, go to NorthRidgechurch.com and listen to the "money" talk. Yup, they call it a talk, too. And there are no crosses, unless they are used for effect in a presentation. But I digress.
For those not interested enough to listen, salient points include:
Jesus spoke more about money than about heaven
Negative uses of money include controlling others with it and corrupting the world.
Positive uses include providing for self and family, charity, creation of jobs, taking care of the world.
Reminded several times that God owns it all, 1 Chronicals 29:11b-12
There are more valuable things than money Pro 22:1, Mark 8:36
and especially Luke 16:13.
The right plan for our money should involve sharing it, saving it and spending it, Phil 4:19 and my personal favorite, 1Tim 6:17b ..."God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment."
