  forgive me if someone has already answered this, but i'm new on here and am not trawling every page to check.

  ok, now why does acts 20:28 in the nwt have the son in brackets?

  did they insert it themselves?

  The NWT I use sys "[] Brackets enclose words inserted to complete the sense in the English text; [[ ]] suggest interpolations in the original text."

  Now I'll quote from the Zondervan NIV Study Bible. The note on that part of the verse says: his own blood . Lit. "The blood of his own one," a term of endearment (such as his own dear one)," referring to his own Son).

  Hmmm, just read 29 and 30. Interesting stuff. A warning about elders/overseers/pastors who wil arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. But I'm sure that could never hapen here...

  Re the expression Jesus Freaks:

  Yesterday I attended a service at "lifechurch." Enthusiastic, friendly, positive folks. When I looked over the program today, I saw that lifw church is an Evangelical Covenant Church. A search on Google led me to their own web site and to a Wikipedia entry. It mentioned them in connection with the Jesus Freaks of the 1960's and 70's. I'm old enough to remember the movement (nevermind just how old) and I recall those folks as VERY enthusiastic but coming from a sound doctrine. So, thicken up that skin and understand that in the original usage, it wasn't so bad.

  Macs and double cheezeburgers notwithstanding, Mineta was one of the good guys before his appointment to the transportation board. I tend to believe him more than the average politician. He took some less popular stands in California and handled critical remarks and attacks gracefully. Can I have just one french fry, pleeeeeeze? (You gotta know not to give me one, I won't stop there.)

  when facing the truth about 9/11 being an inside job......do you refuse to believe it?....or are you scared to be called a conspiracy nut?......is this not the same as being controlled by the jw's and being called an apostate if you question the status quo?....free your minds and waken up.....why did the pentagon....the most secure building on the planet get hit?...where were the air force??

  ?...wtc 7 was brought down by explosives....why did san francisco mayor willie brown receive a warning not to fly that morning?....the evidence is overwhelming and out there....all you need to do is read it and waken up again....you did it once in escaping the borg.....

  I was never under mind control on this issue, but I am still heartsick over it. It is probably a reason for me to make a stronger search for a higher power. Not because the world is ending (Borg-speak) but because this forced me to see how little regard there is for human life.

  The Patriot Act was obviously ready to go on short (scant hours) notice. How quickly the constitution was set aside. And how quickly freedom of speech changed to guarding every word and expressing no opinion least you be called a traitor or worse.

  The United States economy is dependent on oil and the military-industrial complex running at top speed. In order to have a strong US you need an almost-as-strong THEM. And if THEY aren't being assertive enough, US must manufacture situations. I believe that is what happened in New York and with all subsequent terrorist attacks. I wish it were not so.

  btw havent forgotten other topic, meg and i will look at that later.. megan had a long long labour, the induction took aaaaaaaages but things suddenly sped up at 15:00pm and by 16:45 he was out.

  So when I have a bible study, that counts as an hour for each person who joins the sister who leads the study? And when I chat with a baptized book study attendee before or after the riveting Revalation study, can they count the time? And if I speak to my JW neighbor in generalities, am I adding to her time? Wow. And because I sat near folks who knew I was visiting at the District Convention and chatted with others at the park nearby on our breaks, can they count that time?

  How is it that this reminds me of Amway folks eating out and counting it as business meetings?

  i just started using firefox for my browser and have discovered that i can now edit my posts as well as send private messages.

  i couldn't do either of those with safari.

  now, if only i could do all of that cool stuff that i see on here.

  This is BIG. Or it would be if I could change fonts and sizes. But then again, I suppose that only works for the first 144,000 to try it and send in their deposit for the bus trip. Whatever that meant.
