  every single one of you will, of course, know the significance of this momentous date in the history of god's people and their "inspired", ark-like organization.. do you know what was the significance of that critical date?.

  I hope you were joking. If that's true, you're really in trouble (lol).

  I know though, what I feel. I can sense trouble.

  Here, I put it to you that you're merely (a lot?) cleverer than you think you are. At a subconscious level, using data provided by your 5 senses, and your memory and experience, you are able to logically work out, with high accuracy, when there's danger, even when the 5 senses don't directly detect it.

  This skill possessed by your ancient forebears / ancestors is what ensured you actually exist today. Without it, they'd have joined the other 99.9% of species that have lived on earth but are now extinct.

  That's how I see it. I could be wrong.

  Every attempt to prove that humans have some kind of "sixth sense" shows it to be complete BS.

  But we have all sorts of "extra" senses that we either never use or don't notice when we do.

  No, under certain conditions - such as those given in your interesting links (thanks!) - we simply use our existing senses in a heightened, amplified, more sensitive manner (i.e., better).

  I'm not saying science explains all observed phenomena. It patently does not. But a sufficiently high proportion of scientists are honest and admit what science does not (yet) know. There are many paradoxical observations for which no sensible explanatory theories have been concocted.And there may be unknowable things too.

  I am open-minded, but not so open-minded that the breeze blows in one ear and right out the other. I am a natural skeptic. If intuition / "sixth-sense" really existed (as distinct from "mere" involuntary or subconscious thinking) no one would be more intrigued or hooked than I.

  If I acted on the basis of intuition rather than mathematics, I'd have bankrupted myself long ago.

  quellycatface, so why are in-tune, listening-to-sixth-sense people relatively unsuccessful at activities requiring precise decision-making, say:

  mathematics

  stock-picking

  chess

  by comparison to people like You-Know-who? After all, they're apparently equipped with more useful senses than plebs...

  Promise, I'm not being argumentative. But I can't help suggesting that your belief in your 6th sense is more to do with you remembering and clinging on to the times when it was right, and discarding or forgetting the times when it was not.

  Beliefs are self-reinforcing. Evolution has programmed us this way, and with good reason.

  I'm not saying intuition doesn't exist - it most certainly does. It is just subconscious rational thinking.

  But I contest the existence of anything beyond that. It's just wishful thinking...

  The ESP saga, to wit... it is all down to sources.

  i recently posted a post telling this board my athesit coworker stumped me with questions about the validity of the ark story and i just cannot stop talking to her.

  i love hearing her side and point of view which in the past i would have dismissed as "satanic" thinking.

  she has some very good questions and i am having a hard time answering them.

I watch the nature channel and I literally start getting teary-eyed watching the lions and tigers shred a deer in a matter of minutes.   Furthermore, the Bible is a load of rubbish. Utter tripe.

  And I know it better than anyone else I've encountered to date. For reasons I'd prefer not to go into.

  The bits of the Babble that are useful were common-sense and didn't need to be put there.

  The best part - the Golden Rule - was stolen property.

  The irrelevant, horrid, bizarre, nonsensical and false bits comprise the majority of the book.

  Shakespeare afforded the KJV some beautiful text. Doesn't change the rotten nature of the inside of the fruit, though.

  Aesop's Fables, Hans Christian Andersen and Harry Potter are all more consistent. intelligent and beneficial - whatever Timothy (the book) claims to the contrary. And there's more evidence they are true than that the Bible is the word of some gOD.

  Sight

  Hearing

  Taste

  Touch

  Smell

  Perhaps not the best illustration of whatever your point was?

  Sixth-sense, to me, is simply thought, especially subconscious reasoning.
