It is fine to pick your spots if you pour the blood out onto the ground and sacrifice a lamb afterwards. You will, however, be unclean for 7 days times 7 afterwards, during which time you will not be allowed to lay with your husband. Yes it does! They are the most sincere and genuine people you could ever know.
I have been around mentally-challenged kids all my life...and I admit I use the R word to describe things that I find stupid. NEVER once would I ever think to apply that word to a child or person who is challenged. And that word to me does not conjur up an image of a special needs person. I know that word is offensive, and I will try to never use it again, and I'm sure that many here would never use it to describe those special people either.
I am very touched by all of the above posts, you all got it dead on. We shouldn't make fun of one another using the terms ''short bus''...it is insensitive, I know it was NOT intended to be cruel or mean...it is just thoughtlessness.
Hugs to all of you who have siblings or children who are special....they love you oh so much, their love is pure and unconditional...and I'm so glad that they have you as their family...

by AK - Jeff ini knew of an elder who ran a janitorial business for decades here [surprize] - his primary employees were his kids, ranging in age from 3 or 4 to teenager at various times.
he would bring in the whole family, they would spread out and empty bags, vacuum, and dust.
in a flash they are out and off to the book study or whatever.. he was able to 'witness wipe' several offices after 5 o'clock and before the 7 o'clock meeting times.

So that means that you agree with the society's sexist arrangement that just because of a person's GENDER they are not qualified to take over spiritually?
The biggest hypocrite I know is an elder, who is only 27, and likes to stick his nose into everyone's affairs, and tell them how to run their families (he has no children, THANK GOD!!!) and keep control over their wives.
He stood up for his MS brother when his MS brother was treating his wife like a slave, couldn't perform at all sexually because he was an extreme over-eater (I am Not exaggerating, or putting down overweight people, there is obesity that is due to hormonal/chemical imbalances, and there's just over indulging and self-medicating wih food) and he was proud that he was tipping the scales at almost 500lbs. (he was 240lbs when he got married),.
He literally was the laziest SOB on the planet, thought all women were there just to cook and clean for him, and satisfy his sexual needs whenever he wanted it (part of his JW upbringing) so that when she finally had enough, she left him and found a great guy in the ''world''. Her brother in law, 27year old elder went around calling his SIL names like, ''wh0r#, sl*t, etc''.
I was so happy for her when her divorce was finallized. Her disgusting ex-husband seems to have grown a goatee and is a non-attending JW, and his elder brother still thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread.
This 27 year old elder thinks women are to be silent. His young wife obeys his every command without complaint. He is the most chauvinistic man I have ever met. He is also homophobic, and thinks he is brilliant.
He watches R rated movies, but condemns others who watch movies that he personally thinks are not appropriate for christians.
If he ever died, I would not be sad....the world would be a better place if he wasn't contaminating it.

Gregor, I respectfully think you are wrong about why nvr is upset.
I doubt it has anything to do with his post being edited by a mod.
(She didn't even chose the ''vulgar language'' editing reason option, .she chose instead ''incorrect spelling'' as the reason for edit, and she didn't condescendingly use ''red font'' , she chose instead to use black stars, which I thought was nice of her.)
I do not know why he is upset....but I hope he comes back and at least reads this thread.
and I hope that whatever is troubling him is remedied soon.

There are many ''god fearing christians'' here, but,
There are athiests and agnostics here as well. There are even non JW's here. Most of us are EX-JW's.
It is perculiar that you chose to focus on the brutality of what Jesus went through, instead of his message (insert your interpretation here).
