Have JW's done away with disfellowshipping?
by lostlantern ina friend just said that disfellowshipping is no longer practiced due to legalities, does anyone know if this true?

I was an elder a few months ago and there was no significant change that we were made aware of. Just the semantic change of "...no longer a JW" instead of "DFd". Everything else remains intact. Just that the lawyers are reviewing all public announcements now.

How do you measure success compared to before?
by JH inas a jw, success meant pioneering, commenting at the hall and book study, and going up the jw ladder.. how about now, how do you mesure success and happiness?.

we are successful in rearing our children the normal, happy way, without the interference of the WTBTS. Making sure our children have every opportunity to succeed in this world, furthering their education, and for them to have fun playing sports, and making good friends. We let them be kids...
Definately with you on this one- one of the main reasons I've started to fade

The Great Tribulation is picking up speed!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just read that atleast 3 types of animal and plant life go extinct every hour.
global warming threatens the entire planet, crimes against women and children are at a all time high, honeybees dying off for unexplained reasons, the threat of nuclear war, the ravage of infectious disease.

All that burning fossil fuel by driving around looking for people who are not at home (because they're out enjoying their families, a baseball game, a walk, a cup of coffee, their community, etc) is contributing to global warming!!!

I notice a major shift in this when I left Bethel. At bethel all success is measured in terms of your "career" and moving up the ladder. this changed quite a bit afterward. Now- I think of success in terms of that overused poem that basically comes to the point of "sucess is making someone else's life better"

It is interesting how Ray Franz in ISOCF talks about how the phrases overseer, elder, shepherd, etc when read from the text are references to qualities and actions of individuals- not of heirarchical positions granted by a central authority. All of the scriptures that are used to defend and consolidate authority take on a different cast when you consider this.

Attention former elders and ms: I have a question.

i want to begin my fade soon.
i'm going to get off the pioneer list first instead of quitting both positions at once, hopefully to ease potential gossip.

I'm with Lawrence, be a slacker. Get real busy doing something (college is a great thing to do). You will miss meetings, service and then they will remove you. If they hang on to you as an MS forever, you may have to take one of the more affirmative steps.

For there to be freemasons running the wts assumes 2 very huge and implausible things:
1- There is original thought at Bethel these days. Not. The lawyers are the only ones doing any original thinking and their efforts are directed at limiting liability. Franz, Schroeder, etc were the last of the "thinkers" Everyone else is parroting.
2- There is some great conspiracy. Not. Everyone in the org (at all levels) is so caught up in the never ending cycle of performing repeditive tasks that there is simply no time or energy left for conspiracy.

Not looking to start a fight, but the whole masonic, illuminati running the WTS and the hidden symbols in artwork are two very dubious (but exciting) claims. There is enough wrong with this system of thinking without ascribing more conspiracy to it than necessary.
