Seems like theres not so much new light any more. Most of the new light articles today read like legal briefs- "some feel, but you could think, many christian consciences allow..." The "creative thinkers" have all either died or are too scared to propose a new idea because of the apostasy witchhunt. All thats left are obedient automotons who regurgitate the same ideas over and over and over again. Today's new light is usually just new justification for old ideas.

you don't really have to research much more because its the same stuff they present over and over again.
"jehovah's reminders" but i kind of looked forward to new light.

Disfellowshipping question
by emilyblue inmy ex-boyfriend who i am trying not to see anymore was disfellowshipped last monday, but he sent in a letter of appeal because he felt two the the three elders who made the decision were biased against him because they knew his ex-wife and were automatically sympathetic to the woman's side.
he's disfellowshipped for having relations with me, even after he was divorced (before that, his divorce was unscriptural.
) how soon does the appeal take place?

At the appeal committe the only real question is- "Was there a gross miscarriage of 'justice'?" In other words- was he really repentant at the time and the elders just didn't figure that out. It is a very steep hill to climb. The assumption is against him from the beginning.

I'm going to be disfellowshipped on Wednesday
by Thinking of Leaving inthe elders cames to my home on saturday and i didn't answer the door, so they told my sister to relay the message.
the message was "you know what it's about, we're going to make the announcement next meeting".
i knew it was coming...but it feels so weird.

I don't know the exact feeling- but if its the same as the knot I've had in my stomach recently over my issues with the borg- let me assure you- the anticipation and "pre-stress" is nothing compared to the feeling of freedom and relaxation after its over.

1933 Letter from JW's to Hitler and Nazi Party
by kwr ini was watching one of the extras on the knocking dvd and a woman commentator talked about a scandalous letter from the jw's to hitler and the nazi party in 1933. does anyone know where i can read this letter at?.

I have a feeling they already know about this. When the DC Holocaust Museum opened there was a learning center with little blurbs about various aspects of the holocaust. The blurb about JWs said that they were an anti-semetic movement that was persecuted for failure to say Heil Hitler. Everyone at Bethel was "outraged" and someone (from Legal, Public Affairs...I dont know) paid them a visit and straightened things out.

i told her that, "sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you.".
she looked at me with such a hurt look and said,"they can break your heart though.".

My son saw the picture in the "bible story" book of children on a little rock crag in Noah's flood and asked "What did those children do that they were killed in the flood?"
Made me question everything.

JWs and College
by cabasilas ini'm looking for recent information about the wt society discouraging jws from going to college.
i already have the 2005 wt article which went back to the old line discourging post-secondary education.
are there other statements from our kingdom ministry or more recent watchtowers since then?.

College is considered to be the great evil. I have heard of Svc Dpt personnel saying that parents are "sacrificing their children" on the alter of higher education. If you are going to college, your mtg attendance is scrutinized, your service is scrutinized- the assumption is that college will be the reason for all of your problems in life. Elders are removed if they are supporting a child going to college (paying for it or providing financial support), and non-elder parents are subjected to extreme pressure if a kid decides to go to college. Makes you wonder- what is it that is so dangerous about education, ideas, thinking.....

student mass murders, genocides, the ozone layer, the environment------you name it----it all points to what witnesses assert as proof that this means we're living in the "last days of the last days".
