If I were to find myself amongst a group whom I felt part of 12 months from now, it would be because I had found my spiritual home - something that resounds in my soul and attaches to life itself. I do not know of such a group presently - more perhaps from ignorance than from knowledge - but I cannot follow blindly again - I have done that and it is bad for me!

I've reached a turning point in my life
by B_Deserter inlast may, i finally admitted to myself that i am an atheist.
to me, being an atheist means that i don't believe any of the silly nonsense that puny humans have come up with.
many of the religions of man were started during a time when mental illnesses went undiagnosed and misunderstood, a time when man couldn't explain why lightning struck the earth or why rain fell.

As you wonder about the source of all energy and matter which you infer are the same stuff in different forms, I wonder about the existence of space and whether space is another form of stuff!
Space is needed for energy and matter to exist. If space does not exist how can anything be? Even a vacuum needs a space for its void to exist. It is difficult to define space. If there was no matter and energy (as we know them) then we may consider that a vacuumed void would exist with no dimensions since it would go on to infinity in all directions. The human brain is only able to imagine quantiafiable things as far as I am aware and so such a thing is beyond our comprehension even though we know it is there. The existence of an infinite vacuum is a space of infinite dimension and if the void were not there it is unimaginable as to what might take its place. The existence of this void is what permits the existence of matter and energy and must have existed before them unless it came into effect simultaneously somehow or they are all part of the same. If this is true then it seems impossible for space/energy/matter not to exist or at least within the boundaries of human comprehension, which we must all agree is very limited when compared with what we are aware does exist!

Neighbors ward off San Diego fire with own fire hoses
by bebu inwell, this is an interesting idea which i think will catch on.
neighborhoods banded together with their own firehoses could potentially make a huge difference in containing fires.. .

Good idea to supply extra hoses to communities to combat such an overwhelming blaze.

Definitions of Faith
by Shawn10538 ini just had an interesting conversation, though frustrating, with a student about the subject of faith.
i have never heard a definition for faith that i could understand.
every conversation i have had on the subject has only fallen short of establishing what it is.

What the hell is the MATTER with these people?
by mkr32208 ini work nights so when i get off i'll run by walmart to grab something to make for breakfast or just if i need something or whatever.
this morning at 6:55 (i know because i looked at my watch) a little black girl maybe 7 years old came up to me by herself to offer me a tract... i mean come on it's still full freaking dark out and this poor little kid is handing out tracts alone.
i asked her "where are your parents.
-
R.Crusoe
Trouble is these parents will undoubtedly be absolutely convinced the angels are with them because they are warning you all on that parking lot to get on their 'ark' to the new world order as required by God almighty and so no amount of reasoning will help them see your perspective - remember you are the one who needs saving and satan is making you annoyed with them because he is distracting you from seeing their 'truth'. Do you remember thinking that way - I do!!

jehovahs witnesses and the un relationship
by jacethespace infor years i studied the awake and watchtower literature and at times wondered to myself why [ esp in the awake] do they keep quoting the un so much when they are saying the un is satans tool.i got more curious when i read an awake main article which was practically dedicated to the un, all about the uns projects, etc.then it all made sense when i discovered that the tower had had a realtionship of some sort with the un.when i spoke to the elders they seemed non the wiser but looked into it and came back with info saying it was just a library card for the info section.which i was suspicous of,especially when the elder told me this year that " the un thing is old news anyway so why bring that up".. does anyone have any further info on this or documents?
i had heard that american congregations had been sent letters from bethel explaining this, is that true?
because as far as i know british congregations didnt recieve any letters or anything about this.. jacethespace..

It is astounding how the JW leaders do not recognise the impact on followers of letting them spend decades denouncing an organisation in Gods name - as ordained by God to reject - when suddenly they flip the pancake and say so what!
It is abonibable to treat people in this way - and there i quote a deceased Lawrence whom was once a study of a current overseers wife who went to meets for years but died unbaptised because, as he put it,
'I cannot grasp how the leadership treats people so willing to follow God when I go to a convention. They are talked down to repeatedly.'
This was a man who had sat on the board of a company and knew how hard, loyal workers deserved respect. A young me couldn't quite see his perspective - but then I was used to being talked down to and so no surprises it cost me my best years to begin to realise how to let go of all that mindcrap!

Horrifying report on China/did anyone watch Planet in Peril last night?
by restrangled infrom the most digusting, filthy food growing conditions of which more and more of our own food is contaminated with to abuse and consumption of exotic animals, especially the endangered.
they are the worlds biggest contributors to the decline of endangered animals and are creating more.
750 large bears were shown in cages with huge metal tubes inserted into their stomachs to suction out bile every day for old chinese medicine recipes.

What about that stuff we all have on British menus - is it fau gras or something which is derived from force feeding geese via tubes to enlarge their liver which is then served up on menus. Two councils in England have banned it from council menus! And if you consider the plight of other livestock, you end up considering things like beef and lamb to be superior products because at least they roam around and have a life!

At what point did you stop being an idiot?
by Hiddenwindow inwere you always an open-minded jw?
did you ever think that another brother was an apostate because he asked a simple logical question?
the latter, of course, is the most natural reaction among most jws.

There are many stories untold. Some of you have had a trip that is not fully understood which keeps you in an unhappy place for long after leaving. And it is hard to be positive because you do not feel life is a positive for all sorts of reasons. You would be diagnosed as a depressive but you know the real problem is getting close to other humans who think and care and feel like you do - getting back into a tribe or group with whom you feel a bond or family essence which has the potential to go on for life. Maybe this is why so many people stay assocoated to JWs many years after they realise the 'idiocy' of so much of it!
And being out can bring you onto another unavoidable trail of tears wondering, inspite of everything, where life is going and how to explain yourself to those who've been on a regular road in life who see you as some sort of crank or whateva. Not finding people who see the real you is what sends people under IMHO. And those who go under simply prove all the badly informed gossip to have been right - which it never really was! Same the world over.
Where do broken hearts go? Where do broken people go? Where can they find a light for the road ahead?
Let those who know tell those who don't!

Because it sorta says what I waited a lifetime to feel for real.
Given up but it reminds me of the hope of a dream I once thought may happen to me someday in life!
If I'd ever met the right woman this would be my song for her.
