  Everyday, I experience "connections" of the type you describe. I think they've always been there. We are aware of them or we are not.

  I thoroughly enjoyed the pm and again must tell you how much I respect your way of describing your faith AO.

  I experience those "connections" too. To me, they are some of the "whispers".

  Basically, there is a theory that humanity will do as it NEEDS (not wants).

  If it NEEDS to take itself to the brink of destruction and pull itself back at the last minute - then it will.

  If it NEEDS to have an Armageddon-like experience and be left with a smaller population - then it will.

  Generally, the "collective conciousness" will get us where we NEED to be.

  Just a theory - and not mine but good for specualtion, discussion etc.

  There seem to be a lot of posters here who have an aversion to UV radiation.

  I count myself among that number. I have skin the colour of Tippex - until I open the curtains !

  Then I basically crumble to a pile of dust until sundown.

  This fits with the bulk of this thread - the Bible is a way of "translating" the spiritual impossibiblities and unlikeliness into something that our physical "here and now" brains can comprehend.

  To me, it is both TRUE and a METHAPHOR - Almost as if God had the characters in it act-out the stories in order to make them memorable and able to be passed down to the next generation.

  A good example is the Book of Exodus. There is archelogical proof that the AN exodus happened, but there is much spiritual teaching contained within the story. (fallen people, spiritual need, find God, journey, tribulation, led to "promised land" (whether it be real, a state of mind or Nirvana).

  The Gospel of Thomas says this... (backed up by Luke's Gospel - I think)

  The Kingdom of God is within you and all about you, not in buildings of wood and stone.

  When I am gone, split a piece of wood and I am there; lift a stone and you will find me.

  I'm sure that the truth is simpler in essence than we make it

  Lo and Behold, the more I investigated the various representative of Churchianity the less I could believe in the god they all beleived in.

  I have to agree. If I wanted to "welcome someone into Christianity", the last place that I would take them is a church. Far to archaic, impersonal, packed with tradition of men etc.

  I therefore find myself as a Christian without afilliation to an organised group - just affiliated to God, Jesus and trying to live the life that feels in harmony with their teaching.

  In a way, I'm saying listen to the whisper, not to me - if my words/actions cause that whisper to be heard better, great! If not, then that's not the particular way God (the whisper) is calling you and I have no right to get hung up about God's will for your life

  That's what I am trying to say too. The Bible acts as a "hearing booster" for God's whisper.

  Just posted a big response but received an "Access Denied" message !!

  So here is the abridged version:

  I guess that I should have said "Some don't, they simply live their faith once they have connected with it". They use it as a guide, as a way of life. They forgive, they love and they acknowledge God.

  This is an interesting and challenging thread. Thanks for your question that started it.
