I sort of agree and would add that there was no science behind the 2metre/6ft social distancing rule. It has been since found that airborne viruses if sneezed out can travel far further than that.
Still if I am in supermarket queue and someone behind me has COVID then I would prefer they wore a meal and kept their distance.
The mask and distancing things were at least signals to be careful during the early stages of this devastating epidemic.

Makes me smile and brings back memories. When I stepped down as an elder, a year went by and I wasn't assigned any talks on the school, asked to open or close in prayer, nothing. I queried this saying as far as I was concerned I was in 'good stand' - so guess what? They asked me to do the microphones occasionally.
Good luck to Tony with that; at least I'm a bit more nibble on feet than he looks.

Anthony M III is no Ray Franz. AMIII has always come across to me as bigoted and narrow minded. The debacle back in the 1970's was due to a number of individuals who dared to do their own research and to begin questioning a number of core beliefs. Essentially, they became Christian liberals, not a description I would use in relation to old Tony.

Everything here is very speculative until more is revealed or known about the situation.
Personally, I don't buy the stepped down for health reasons or personal reasons as that would totally go against the 'Faithful and Discreet Slave' doctrine they have conjured up. If Christ has selected old Tony, then being closer to death means being closer to the heavenly reward as not just one of the 144,000 but of the specially chosen FDS (may be there are even two classes within the 144,000 lol).
On the other hand the FDS doctrine can be bent to show the FDS is a 'flexible' arrangement for dispensing 'spiritual food at the correct time' and therefore can be and is a much a body that changes regularly.

I find these very terse announcements very strange. No mention of something like 'we thank brother Morris for all his hard work over the years and appreciate the input he has had to the GB.'
It's akin to the short of announcement made when they disfellowship someone, 'brother/sister so-and-so is no longer one of JWs'.
They are either totally ungrateful or something is amiss.
has the auxiliary class or second school been done away with?.
when i grew up in my congregation we even had three schools, so three bible readings and three lots of student assignments.. after covid it seems everything is easier, less assignments now some only seem to get one or two per year.. being an elder is much easier these days, everything is done for you.
meetings are full of videos and q&as need no preparation you could take a watchtower or cong book study with zero preparation and most midweek meetings have q&as that requires no preparation .
When I was 'school overseer', our congregation once had a main school and two additional schools.
Also, in those days each student had a counsel sheet and they were expected to work through all the points, with the school overseer marking each point of counsel good, weak or improved.
Now a days, the talks are just a parrot repeat of some video or other and I don't think anyone is asked to work anything, just a general chat about the pre assigned point they were supposed to be working on.

as i understand it, jehovah’s witnesses believe less than 145,000 faithful christians existed prior to the twentieth century.
the other sheep christians did not start forming until after 1914. that means jehovah’s witnesses view millions martyred for their faith in christ prior to the 20th century as merely professed christians.. the question is…how do witnesses know that those millions who perished for their faith in christ were not christians at all?.
Seems strange that two white American men who have spent most of their adult lives in the cosy confines of Bethel can get the heavenly call followed by being made GB members when a frail female slave girl, tortured and brutally put to death, isn't counted worthy of heaven.
