Is there evidence for networks of abuse?

i tend to avoid the subject because it's too depressing, so i've probably missed lots of discussion about this issue.

but i read a comment on youtube yesterday that shocked me and made me wonder.

the person claimed that many years ago abusers in society generally identified jws as a safe haven for abusers and joined en masse order to exploit the situation.

In the past I had thought pedophiles were loners - I mean who would admit that to anyone?

Flipper and I have since gotten to know several people who were abused by JW pedophiles, or whose children were. Also have read a lot on the subject and followed news stories. Some do hang out in groups.

In a good friend's former congregation the elders regularly recruited at a prison known to have a lot of pedophiles. Another nearby congregation had so many pedophiles that an elder's wife would not allow her kids to attend there.

One of those creeps (who had been 10 years in prison for what he did to little girls) followed our friend in his car, I suppose to intimidate her because she was trying to inform people about him. She drove straight to the PO's house, and was more angry than scared.

I was afraid for her safety (she lives several states away) and actually called bethel. I identified myself as a non jw (true) and asked the guy to please do something about it. I gave him the guys history and laid out how the elders let him skate on all kinds of obnoxious stuff he did.

The guy at bethel was dismissive, said it would be looked into and tried to get off the phone. I was disgusted and told him if anything happens to her they may be in trouble.

I would not be surprised if there is a subculture of pedophiles in the wt.

MARK- VERY well written and honestly expressed. Your statement, " I live in the now because it's real " is probably in my opinion the most important statement you made in this thread. Keep embracing the here and now, I encourage you to keep reading by educating yourself as to WHAT kind of psychological control we experienced as JW's and HOW the WT Society was able to control us so easily. At that point we are able to forgive ourselves for having been duped and then put the blame on who it should fall on - criminal and unscrupulous WT leaders. You are going through many different changes as we all do once we start peeling back the skin of mind indoctrination we received from a high control organization the WT Society.

Several books that really helped me to move on and understand what I went through in my 44 years of WT indoctrination were 3 of Steve Hassan's books on mind control which I feel is a must read for ANY ex-JW getting out of the cult. His first book is 1. Combatting Cult Mind Control - Book # 2 is Releasing the Bonds- Empowering People to Think For Themselves and Book # 3 - Freedom of Mind - Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs.

As I stated- These books REALLY assisted me to understand the power of mind control and these techniques that the WT Society used to steal away our sanity and freedom of mind where we could not think straight. You will see that we have an authentic personality and like robots being programmed - the WT Society slyly tried to instill a JW cult personality into us - masking or covering over our born in authentic human empathetic personality. So it's a case of us re-embracing our authentic personality once again- which takes effort and retraining our brain neurotransmitters ! Hard work- but it's worth it ! i've been drawing back lately and looking at the big picture going on in the org, somewhat like slimboyfat has also been doing, but i am wondering about different possibilities.

so the current gb has modernized recently in various ways.

they have done a strong and sudden about-face regarding the electronic world, from viewing the whole thing suspiciously and condemning bros. use tablets from the platform to suddenly embracing them and causing the r&f to do so to such a degree that old ones are spending hundreds of dollars to buy devices that they have no clue how to use; they have heavily embraced this media for their message, very much like the churches have been doing for years, especially with their jw broadcasting and their caleb and sophia animations.

First time here

okay so here goes...this is my first time on here.

i'm lost and confused and am feeling very hopeless.

i was dfed in september and i am still wrapping my head around everything.

BARELY THERE- A warm welcome to you from me and my wife. I was in a DFed state for 4 years one time and I found that once I got reinstated it wasn't all wine and roses at all. People still didn't invite me or my teenage kids over for dinner and would only associate with me at the kingdom hall until I " proved " myself again. Sometimes it's not worth the hassle to be abused and looked down on. I thought to myself - " I stayed out for 4 years and worked hard to come back to this treatment " ? Then I quit attending meetings for good after being reinstated for a year. As you mentioned I started seeing the hypocrisy big time.

Please know and be assured that we offer our friendship and support to you here and we understand what you are experiencing. Hang in there, it's a challenging thing but know that you aren't alone we are here for you if you ever want to talk with any of us- O.K. ? Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

hello and thanks to everyone for participating on this forum it has really been of much value, for those of you that post here know that your words are not lost you never know who is reading your expressions, lives are being changed and nonsense challenged.

i’m not much of a writer so excuse my untrained writing style and grammar but i want to share my story to help anyone who is visiting here to see that we are real people, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters who have come here for answers, there is no agenda, just searching for truth.

i hope my story will help others as so many here have helped me..

CANE- A warm welcome to you from me and my wife. Thanks for sharing your very touching story. You ARE a good writer - very expressive ! Don't put yourself down- the JW organization and WT Society did that enough to us all these years.

I was touched by your statement, about the graveyard, " There were hundreds of untold stories, thousands of them, there are more people that have died than are alive today. I thought of my father's death , the comforts I felt that I would see him, talk to him, walk with him again were quickly disappearing. I wept like a child. I finally really mourned my father."

I totally understand what you are feeling as I was a born-in JW from birth until I exited at age 44 over 12 years ago. I too have a long time elder dad age 90 who has been a JW since 1951. Here's the thing though : It's difficult, hard, if not impossible to get many JW's to appreciate the here and now and how important our current relationships are- because - they are indoctrinated by the WT Society to think that what we are living right now is NOT the " real life ". We were all told that the " real " life would come in the " paradise " and that this life is just " temporary ". So it causes many JW's to minimize business ventures, getting a college education, AND it affects relationships even with family because we are told , " Oh well, they'll come back to us in the resurrection " . But what if that too was a lie or misinterpretation from the WT Society ? THEN - A person experiences all the crashing emotions you felt at the graveyard - coming to a realization that our CURRENT life IS important because this may indeed BE all we've got !

So personally I have determined to live my life in a good way, loving family, friends, playing guitar, writing songs , pursuing my self employed business and cherishing each and every day in our life because we never know when it might be taken from us. I just want you to know that I care, we all care here on the board as we have been there, experienced these feelings also. Welcome to freedom of mind and please know that we are here as a support to you if you'd ever like to talk. Hang in there and a big welcome to you

DAGNEY- Indeed Days is a really good, touching ballad for sure. Nice tune, nice lyrics. Glad to hear you've been getting your Bowie on- me too- been listening to his songs all week on the way to work. What a loss. A real talent he was for sure. I really enjoy the jazz inflected tune " Bring Me the Disco King " on the Reality album. His voice is really great on that song especially . His voice is good anyway- but especially on that song on that album.

having recently read orwells 1984, i was impressed with how he understood that both politicians and people abuse language.

this further confirmed to me how the w.t had deceived me by using words to distort reality.

the book 1984, also contains many other great thoughts of george orwell.. of course there have been many other great thinkers, buddah, darwin, freud, einstein and marx come to mind.

Me, I like how I think. Not being arrogant here- just honest. I'm influenced by lots of smart people on this board and a lot of smart interesting people whose books I've enjoyed learning from. Or opinions I have learned from in life from many different people and I put together what many of these people know and either incorporate some of those views that seem reasonable into how I roll - or dismiss those views if they seem unreasonable. I look forward to continue learning the rest of my life until I die. I embrace making mistakes in life and learning from those mistakes as well . Another reason that I like how I think. Smart enough to know that I DO NOT know everything- yet modest enough to admit it. Peace out ( O.K. you can start slinging your arrows if you'd like - I have broad shoulders too ! LOL )

ORPHAN CROW- Thanks for posting this article link of yet more JW child abuse incidents in Newfoundland . The nerve of the child abuse victims JW father to state in a '"forgiving " tone , " Things happen. We're all human. No matter what religion you're of, things can happen. " I wish somebody would stick some Voodoo pins in this idiotic JW father's brain and put a curse on him. Wait a minute- he already has Voodoo WT pins sticking in his brain - one thing that makes him make brain dead , making insensitive comments concerning his JW daughters rape. Normal "humans " don't rape children. OMFG ! Where do these people COME from ?

Then a quote from the news report itself ! This - " They ( Jehovah's Witnesses ) also follow strict rules that prohibit, among other things, sex outside of marriage...... " Uh-huh , yeah, right. Unless of course it's an adult having sex with a minor child that they aren't married to - that somehow gets hushed-hushed being " handled " very quietly in back rooms of kingdom halls.

And then the stupid elder who gives the same old excuses and rhetoric we hear time after time saying - " We do abhor this kind of wickedness, blah, blah, blah, ........ we do our best to protect our children, blah, blah, blah.......... " Fucking idiot. The freaking realize that you have HAD these elders and child molesters INSIDE your congreagtions for YEARS ! Take STRONGER measures to protect children ! These aren't people who " sneak into " congregations in a secretive fashion- these pedophiles have been and ARE among you for years ! And many times you know it and WT leaders know it and won't do a damned thing about it ! Nobody to blame but WT Society leaders and their policies and individual elders who won't be real humans and stand up for children being sacrificed and sexually abused ! O.K. I'm done.
