I Was Going To Ask...
by deborahs_song ini was going to ask in the suggestion box if a forum for new posters who still believed in god and the bible could be formed here.
then it dawned on me that most probably the owner of this discussion board and most posters here would be opposed to that idea.. please, be honest.
would you rather those who believed in the bible and believed in the creator did not post here?

This forum is mainly for ex-jehovah's witnesses. Diverse views are presented here from strong Christian beliefs to raving rabid atheists. If someone doesn't want to participate in a thread that addresses your topic, they won't. Simple as that. Post away.

by hibiscusfire ini am interested to know what you know about jesus and what you really think of his teachings.. the bible says there is only one way to heaven.. jesus said: "i am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me.
" (john 14:6) .
the lord jesus was crucified and shed his precious blood to wipe away our sins (revelation 1:5).

You're quoting scripture at me, sweetie. Believe me. I can quote scripture with the best of them. What I'm saying is that we would know a lot more possibly about just exactly who and what Jesus was if we understood his development and the role Mary played in his early childhood. There is some mystery involved in the early life of Mary that is never touched upon in the modern bible and this is bound to have carried over in her role as mother of Jesus.
I, of course, am familiar with the incident you mention when Jesus was 12 yrs. old. But, remember, also, Mary was the one that activated him to perform his first miracle. He told her he wasn't ready, but she, more or less, told him to do it anyway. AND HE DID just as she told him to.
We don't know all of the facts and possible deeper mysteries because the Nicean Council chose to eliminate them. There is more than meets the eye IMO and with these other writings, more light might have been shed on the development of Jesus' healing and prophesying abilities had they been included. Maybe today we would understand the deeper things better had the church not hidden them from us.

Let me add this: The biblical Book of Mary, the mother of Jesus, is a prime example. For centuries, scholars thought Mary probably had a greater role in Jesus' life than we see in our modern Bible. This book gives insight into Mary's heritage and the family she was reared in. The family values that led Mary to her role as the mother of Jesus are of immense aid in showing how this young woman guided her son, instilling in him those things that allowed his gifts of healing and prophecy to grow and flourish. Additional books go on to tell about the time leading up to and immediately following Jesus' birth, as well as miracles he supposedly performed throughout his childhood. Why were these books not included? What sort of ideas did they present that "scared away" those picking and choosing what to include? You have to wonder, don't you?

And if it hadn't been for the Nicean Council, we might know more. In 325 A.D. when Roman emperor Constantine formed a council of historians and scholars and directed it to put together what is now our Holy Bible, many many texts and documents were modified, removed, or left out. Our priests and later other religionists convinced us all that God's Holy Spirit directed these men and what we are left with is God's only inspired words. But is it? Consider these books and documents that were edited out:
Barnabas, I Clement, II Clement, Christ and Abgarus, The Apostles' Creed,
I Hermas-Visions, II Hermas-Commands, III Hermas-Similitudes,
I Infancy, II Infancy, Mary, Magnesians, Nicodemus, Paul and Seneca,
Paul and Thecla, Philadelphians, Polycarp, Trallians, Letters of Herod and Pilate.
Below is another partial summary of supporting texts that were removed. (However, these texts have been reserved for scholars.):
The First Book of Adam and Eve
The Second Book of Adam and Eve
The Secrets of Enoch
The Psalms of Solomon
The Odes of Solomon
The Fourth Book of Maccabees
The Story of Ahikar
The Testament of Reuben
Asher
Joseph
Simeon
Levi
Judah
Issachar
Zebulum
Dan
Naphtali
Gad
Benjamin

Life on Mars
by Anti-Christ ini don't know if this has been discussed before but what if we find life on mars?
what do you all think would happen to bible based religion if we discover life on mars?
and a question for bible believers what would change in your belief if there is such a discovery?

I don't get it. Even when I was a dub, I always believed in the possibility of life elsewhere. I never thought an all powerful creator would confine his attention to just this tiny speck upon a speck upon a speck of a planet.
He spoke about "earthling man" in the Bible, and that always made me think there were others kinds of "man" elsewhere. I never asked anybody though....that would have been speculating and I knew what would happen then! (a tongue-lashing from the elders about over-thinking things.)
