Do you think the society will abandon 1914?

it seems to me that they're slowly dismantling the date theology that ties the end times to this period in history.

first, they updated the generation teaching to mean a figurative generation, thus removing the possibility in the near future when all who were alive in 1914 are dead.

then, they abandoned 1935 so the annointed will never die off, and prove their belief that the annointed will see armageddon wrong.

i just wanted to state that everytime i post a topic on how to attack the idiots at the watchtower i get replies that my schemes won't work.

to all second string quarterbacks, my schemes are working; so while you sit on the sidelines watching the first string quarterback win the game, don't be a player hater.... hate the game and not the player.

since i quit taking crap off my witness family they are in retreat!

You are wrong on so many counts, I'm not even going to go there. If I were to use the same kind of twisted logic you do, I'd be telling you I didn't call you a drunk. I said I bet you are a mean drunk. But I don't want to get into name calling. I actually kind of like you after all the blustering and insulting is peeled away. Mellow out, will ya'?

Recurrent nightmare, what does it mean?

i am having a recurrent and very upsetting nightmare that my husband is murdered.

in one dream, i call the police and am arrested immediately myself.

in another dream, there is blood everywhere.

Did you "see" the intruder in the dream? Or, did you just "know" there was an intruder? If you saw him, describe him. Was he just a dark shadow with no visible features? Did he have a weapon? What was he wearing and what was the color? The devil is in the details, dear. Some of us may be able to help you sort this out.

Are you feeling responsible for something that has happened to your husband? Are you having regrets that in some way you have caused him sadness or pain? (police being called and you being arrested) Without some of the details, it's difficult to help you decipher the message. But if the dream is recurring, it's an important one.

This is what is probably scaring them more than anything and this is what I think is behind the upcoming Kool-aid version of the WT. I really believe they see those still in it as the ones that are going to have to support their crap, because the internet is going to expose them for the sham they are and any intelligent person will research them before being sucked in, so new membership will dwindle down to nothing (among people with $$ to donate anyway).

This time next year, they will be studying the WT and learning how to plan financially to help support Jehovah's final great work. How to will your estate, how to contribute not only your hard earned money, but your stocks and bonds, how to budget so you can make sure Jehovah's organization is receiving a portion, etc. etc. ad nauseum.

do you think that the internet and xjw forums caught the watchtower off guard?

just a few years ago, disfellowshipped ones were powerless and rendered silent by the watchtower.. to what degree do you think the internet has made life difficult for the watchtower?.

THAT'S why the WTS is scared of XJW forums - they can't begin to hold their own in the free and open debate of ideas.

I've noticed this, too. Even face to face, the average JW can't intelligently discuss real biblical doctrine. They quote the same scriptures that have been used excessively over and over and if you go to any subject or offer any objection outside the few they have been taught to "overcome", they are at a loss and will end the discussion pronto. If you stick to the doctrines of hellfire, the trinity, the immortality of the soul, preaching the good news worldwide, and the appointing of the FDS, they are fine, but carry it any deeper and they are "outta here".

to deconstruct the jw rationale surrounding birthdays, a few simple guidelines should be followed.. (1): don't waste any energy trying to convince a jw that birthdays are not pagan, if they suggest that, readily agree.

whether or not the celebrations are pagan turns out to be a non-issue that distracts from the main point.. (2): stay focused on the fact that jws disfellowship people for celebrating birthdays.. (3): stress the point that there should always be clear scriptural reason for disfellowshipping someone.

ask them often throughout the discussion whether this is the case, get them to reinforce this need to themselves.. (4): remember, the first goal is deconstructing their rationale, not giving them a new rationale, not convincing them that celebrating birthdays is a good thing.. once you have these well in mind, the deconstruction can begin.. jw rationale, in brief:.

My question Auld Soul, is how do you get a JW to discuss it! The minute they think you're doing the apostate talk, they shut down....adios...hasta luego...you're outta here! They stick their fingers in their ears and yell, "I can't hear you...lalalalalala." I have yet to get one to listen to that kind of reason.
