First I have to ask, what's with having two baby showers?
It can happen. The mother to be doesn't arrange these thing's. I've seen it when a different sex child is expected.

none of them had very many people in attendance.
that baby shower had 5 people in attendance 2 of which were hosting it.

There were too few occasions where the JWs would get together in a casual sense, thus explaining the high attendance.
I can't explain why the attendance has dropped in the worldly arena, and I have noticed it.
I see nowaday's men are also included in many baby and wedding showers. I went to ONE. It was good to see the women having a wonderful time, and they were, and I don't understand why they are passing on these events lately.

I have to agree with you WAC. Years ago when the news was limited to local areas you didn't hear about these things happening. They were happening and now the media has the technology to get the info and the greed to report it. Usually it's the young people who are most effected by it, thinking it's cool or something like that.

his mom ( witness who lost all grandkids to the "world")died.
at the funeral, an elder's.

The elderette suddenly
said "why am I talking to you, you have no interest in being in the truth!" and turned and walked away.
I can still see the faces of a couple JWs that go out of their way to treat ex-JWs that way. Definately wouldn't be chosen by God for anything unless God had a cow barn that needed cleaning.
A few JWs score high marks in crudeness, but many do show kindness.

Dividing people into groups is hateful.
I agree.
What if every person in all parts of Christianity were to allow themselves the vantage point of recognizing their standard (Bible) as a heaping pile of opinions, arguments and filterings of mytho-historical amalgams?
I wonder how civilization would handle it if that happened.

Funny story about a funeral
by dawg inmy uncle died last month (father's side), so i mustered up the courage to attend the funeral; he was never baptised and i was never disfellowshipped so folks still talk to me thinking i'm da not realizing i'm a full flegged apostate-this has since changed as i've decided to come forward since then.
so the elder gets up and gives the funeral sermon complete with many of the bible myths talking snake and all... sounds like a damn bad acid trip.
so after the graveside service one of my old friends i haven't seen in 17 years comes up and says "did you learn anything by todays sermon'?

At my sister's wake a couple weeks ago, many JWs came and they would come over to me and start talking casual for a few minute's. Then they turned the conversation into a biblical one that ended in a question or in some way required a response. I gave them a blank stare and in a few moments they would say, "you take care of yourself" and walk away. I felt like, "Wow, I beat them"!

My JW sister wants her mom and siblings to pay for HER retirement!
by Who are you? inkind of long...thanks in advance for letting me vent!.
my sister has been a jw since 1974. she's been waiting for the end of this "system of things" since the fall of 1975. she never went to college.
she has had probably 80 or more jobs since 1974. she has no retirement savings.

She will reach retirement age and that doesn't mean she can stop working. She has created her own future. If she is to continue living with your mom after you get professionals to take care of your mom, then she should be paying room and board. Tell her to talk to the elders about her situation, I'm curious if they will teach her to freeload or be responsible for herself.
