Angry woman returns "My Book of bible stories"...Too violent for her Children? Is this true?
by Witness 007 inmy mum gave a worldly ladies kids a "bible stories" book as a gift, the woman was pleased...2 weeks later the angry woman returned the book claiming it was too violent and upsetting for her kids.
even though i was brought up on that book, looking at it now with the drownings at the flood, jesus pinned to a post, a chapter with a picture of a guy on the ground with a nail thru his temple i have to say......it is too violent and upsetting for kids...just in pictures alone!
what do you think?.

Talking Points for when Witnesses Come to your Door

(social media site nonsense) lying on the counter.
it was obvious witnesses had stopped by the house.

I was just thinking about this over the weekend. JW's came to my door and I didn't open. But I wish I could've opened and been prepared to sow some seeds.
Many of us have relatives that are stuck inside, maybe one of you out there with a carefully thought out question might help one of my relatives open their eyes. And maybe I could do the same for one of your relatives.
How many of us who know the truth about the truth are out there? What if each one of us we were prepared with a mini-intervention (a thought provoking question, or comment, something to make them THINK and get past the stock answers) everytime they knocked on our doors?
Good suggestions so far. I might just print this thread out in a few days and keep it handy for next time....

It's obvious that the flood DID occur and it wiped out the first page of this thread. Seriously though, great thread. It's interesting to me that when I read my kids a Bhiddist story with all sorts of fantastical events they know it's JUST a story to help teach a lesson. Why can't we read the Bible as we read every other book, and then based on merit decide whether the stories in it are fictional or real?

Very rigid lifestyle, very pessimistic world view, way too much guilt which led me to internalize the view that nothing I did was ever good enough. Fear of people, sense of not fitting in with others, and lack of social skills.

In my case, there were some pros. For me it was a very disciplined lifestyle. So I learned discipline. There was a lot of reading and "studying" of Watchtower literature. Even thought the "studying" was little more than regurgitating what you had just read, it did enhance my reading and comprehension skills. I was a troubled teen, I think the phobias kept me from doing things which may have gotten me in serious trouble, i.e., drugs.
