Share a favourite website . . . .
by nicolaou inwww.pandora.com i've mentioned this one before but for music lovers it's fantastic.
you don't download music, you just listen to it.
you can create as many "stations" as you want and you can even refine them.

What Maintains the Universe?
by metatron indoes it ever seem weird that evolutionists and creationists endlessly debate about events vastly distant in the past - without discussing what.
maintains the universe now?
clearly, electrons and protons have a certain mass, light has a particular speed and so on - why should any of.
-
SacrificialLoon
The quantum world is a strange strange place, and it's foamy!
Currently there doesn't appear enough mass to maintain the universe as it is. The universe's expansion is accelerating, and eventually in the far future long after the stars have gone out and the last black hole has evaporated away the universe will become a cold dark mist of subatomic particles.
Here's our best guess so far: The Five Ages of the Universe -

I don't think we give human ingenuity enough credit. Still, I remember one of the books in the bible, Ezekiel I think? Talked about flying wheels within wheels with eyes, and fire, and I remember thinking you know that sounds like a UFO.

Moon Landings - Real or Fake?
by Black Man ini've always wondered about this, especially recently.
i've always contended that they were real and ignored the conspiracy theories.
but if they were real, why hasn't nasa been able to send a man to the moon since the 1970s?

THE UNIVERSE - What do you now believe about it?
by Black Man ini was watching this documentary on the various galaxies and it stated that the universe is still expanding, planets are being created as we speak.
it also detailed some of the planets within our solar system and some beyond it and speculated how some were favorable for habitation and that some show evidence of having a water supply.
what do you believe about the universe?

It's a big place with lots of possibilities. There is alomst certianly other life out there somewhere. Is the universe intelligent? Well since we are part of the universe I'd say yes. Is it a life force? In so much as we are alive it is a "force" that has generated life, but it as a whole being alive? Probably not.
Looking at pictures like these from the hubble deep field survey they counted over 10,000 galaxies in a tiny portion of the night sky. I wonder who else it taking pictures of the universe and is looking at our galaxy or cluster of galaxies wondering how many civilizations exist in that small patch of the universe.
Alternatively, 42 is just about as good of an answer as any to the question of life, the universe, and everything. :) Edit 42 is the correct number :p -

Which JWD posters have Secret Superpowers???
by Kudra indon't worry you can tell us here- no one knows your true identity.

If I said what they were then they wouldn't be SECRET superpowers now would they? Edit: ok, here's a few
I too have the ability to detect minute amounts of UV radiation with my skin.
I have the special power of ear modulation.
I can also detect electromagnetic radiation between the frequencies of 4000-7000 angstroms with specially adapted organs.
I can produce a myriad of liquids, and some solids.
I can convert other living things into energy. -

What's your opinion on genetic engineering?
by LtCmd.Lore inare you opposed to it?
where do you see it heading?.
would you allow your future child to be genetically altered if you knew it would drastically improve them?
-
SacrificialLoon
It will free us from the tyranny of the gene (so to speak), I'm for it.
There are some potential problems though. What if everyone has one particular trait that was deemed desireable, and a virus is either devloped or evolves to take advantage of this genetic homogeny? That could cause problems. Then there's the whole who determines what traits are desireable and which are not, and what to do with people who do not have desireable traits. What if it leads to virtual immortality for a few, and the undevloped world remains mortal? I think the devloped world would quickly collapse since people would be far too afraid to risk their near endless lives.
Overall I think the benefits outweigh the risks, but like any tool science gives us there are risks. -

I believe we turn into green M&M's. Those that believe we turn into red ones are heretics! Slay the infidels! ;)
Seriously though, I think nothing happens, although it'd be nice to be wrong.
