Our factories, and workers need to be more like the Chinese factories and workers rather than the other way around. I think that's the gist of it.

"More like a strategic blunder that even Bush can see. Which is saying something. You have the king of strategic blunders fixing a huge strategic blunder ( pissing off the most of the auto and rust belt northern states ) his party just made."
But you see most of the Republican senators that voted against it are in the south where there are non-union foreign automakers which may stand to gain from the demise of the American auto manufacturers, and the voting against big government platform plays well to their constituents, and with the unpopular Bush likely bailing them out anyway they won't have to deal with the repercussions of their ideological stubbornness.
So having voted against the bailout, but it being done anyway they can paint themselves as fighting the good fight without winning, and avoiding the political repercussions that a potential collapse of the American automakers would cause had they actually stopped a bailout.
I agree that not bailing them out is a bad idea, but there are a lot of people, particularly in the south, that are against it.
It's a chess game, you have to look several moves ahead. -

"The way I see the Republican in the senate just kissed any chance of getting a stronger minority in 2010 good bye. More like b**ch slapped the slammed the door in the collective face of the American workforce."
Actually I think they made a very strategic move. They got to vote against the bailout, but Bush looks like he's going to bail them out anyway with TARP money. So they get to vote against "big government" without the consequences of voting against big government. -

I believe in one President, the Barack Obama, Creator of hope and change, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Joseph Biden, Son of Deleware, the only-begotten, born of the Father before all ages. -

We'll have golden Obama statues to worship and make burnt offerings to. It's just like a golden calf except it's a golden Obama!

Who here has lost their job?
by daniel-p ini found out a couple weeks ago i'll be losing my job by the end of the year.
despite having a bs, and almost a masters in a professional field, an outstanding education record, and having project management experience, i've had zero luck in getting a new job.
unfortunately, i don't live in a large metro area, and so opportunities for my line of work (governmental) are limited here.

Bad week for the GOP
by BizzyBee inbaby bush's approval rating fell another point - down to 21%.
that means that 79% of the american public are officially "bush-haters.
" the blagojevich scandal, that looked like such a windfall for obama-haters, is shaping up instead to be a testament to obama's integrity ("...that m-f-er, wouldn't give me anything but appreciation - f-him!
