The Case for Theism
by FusionTheism in"theism" here means "belief in a god" or "the worldview that an intelligent designer created the universe and life.
" ("god" here means a being with a mind who initiated and/or wound-up the universe, and designed life on earth)the most common claim that i see atheists making on twitter, is that "no evidence" exists in support of belief in a god.this post will remove any excuse atheists have for claiming "no evidence exists" in support of an initiator.
atheists can still reject this evidence as "weak," but they cannot truthfully say it does not exist.now, it is true that we do not have "observable, repeatable, falsifiable, empirical, scientific" evidence conclusively proving that an initiator exists, but we do have many lines of philisophical, experiential, and logical evidence.and... here... we... go:1:) many leading scientists, including stephen hawking, say that the space-time-matter universe had a beginning at the singularity/big bang.

Proof - of what?
by Doltologist ina few weeks ago, these two jovies turned up on my doorstep.
being in a good mood that particular day, i told them that if they could prove that god existed, i'd become a jovie - and i meant every word.. they gave me two documents which they asked me read and told me that they'd be back in a week.
the first was called "was life created?

Anyone can Google and regurgitate facts. However, facts require understanding and it is obvious that you have no understanding.
You and your shyte are just too mind-numbingly tedious to bother with any more.

Being a negative it gives the self evident status to theism.
So it does. I never thought about it that way.

More people need to know what this cult does to people.
Offers up human sacrifice to a non-existent god.

This religion/cult messes people up. They are damaging, destructive... I do not understand how they are allowed to legally operate.
It's called religious freedom. However, when the freedom of one person (the parents) impinge upon the freedom of another (their child's right to life) then that's where society should step in and either ban the practice or the cult.

Why don’t we have a better story?
by iconoclastic in1. some say we are all gods, and god is omnipresent..
2. some say: god created his children who later challenged his sovereignty, who in turn asked his eldest son: go down to the world, do not resist the wicked, but be murdered by them, the value of which will be used to atone the sins of the world..
3. universe arose out of a big bang.

If so, why only some species would abandon asexual reproduction in favor of more costly and inefficient sexual reproduction?
I can see that I'm gonna regret this but anyways ...
Evolution isn't meant to be pretty, efficient or even any better than the babble. Evolution is a random process which relies on random change where the fittest survive and the weakest die. That way, a biological entity is able to adapt and change as its environment does.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. What kind of creator chappie puts a woman's pleasure beach next to her sewage works? A creator doesn't. At least a good one doesn't. Also, who in the right mind designs DNA that way such that when it mutates, it could give rise to cancer? Man evolved. The design ain't pretty. It ain't efficient but it works - just.
Science hasn't got all the answers - YET. But it will. Just because it doesn't have the answers yet, doesn't mean we got her via some sky wizard - which is so preposterous, it's positively laughable.

A lack of belief = belief? I agree that is illogical.
Please help me see the connection to our discussion.
Why are you asking me? You are the one who wrote Atheism is about belief, not me. I merely pointed out that Atheism isn't about belief. It is a response to a belief and then we got into this circular discussion.

I wonder how many JWs in such a situation hope that a court will take the matter out of their hands and order the transfusion.
I wonder how many situations there have been where there hasn't been time enough for the courts to act and children have died needlessly?
