Proof - of what?

a few weeks ago, these two jovies turned up on my doorstep.

being in a good mood that particular day, i told them that if they could prove that god existed, i'd become a jovie - and i meant every word.. they gave me two documents which they asked me read and told me that they'd be back in a week.

Bible Chronology, Egyptology and the Great Flood

fact: bible chronology says the flood occurred between 2348 and 2370 bce, depending on which scholar you listen to.

fact: the great pyramid of giza was constructed 200 years before, in c. 2560 bce..

so, if you believe in a literal interpretation of noah's flood, you believe that the egyptians built a great civilization, were destroyed by the flood in 2370 bce, and then somehow, they reappeared immediately after the flood, picked right back up where they left off without skipping a cultural beat.. oh, and isn't it ironic that legitimately studying the great pyramid of giza debunks jw mythology now?

there are a lot of people on this site and others who even though they don't believe anymore still fill the seats at the meetings.. i was just wondering, if they all decided to leave at the same time, how many do you think would leave?

would the numbers drop dramatically?

So would I but I don't think that it's gonna happen any day soon.

Firstly, jovies are well and truly brainwashed. jovie world has seen to that.

Secondly, jovies are weak people. They need to believe in something greater than themselves. Man has achieved much. He has survived this far. He has created great art, great literature and great science. Is this not enough?

Thirdly, people want to be liked. If jovies leave, they fear being shunned by those that stay and those that return. Well, guys, I prefer self respect above all else. How about you?

The point that I'm making is that, once upon a time, we just accepted that god, jesus, etc. existed because religtards told us so.

Life isn't like that any more (thank goodness).

We now question - especially religtard dogma - and so we should. At least, non-jovies do anyhoo.

Rubbish. Each historical figure has to be taken on their own merits. The fact is that a hell of a lot rests on the existence of jesus and, right now, his existence rests on some very flimsy evidence.

i am initially thinking of the major religious institutions of christianity , catholic ,many branches , church of england , and the major protestant religions , too numerous to mention here.. after all their is 40,000 plus christian religions in the world today ?so obviously j.w.`s are not the only false religion .. so my real question is really , to do with the mainstream christian religions , why are`nt they more aggressive in their condemnation of the jehovah witness religion for their obvious failings ,flip backs ,contradictions ,prophecy`s that never eventuated , end of the world predictions ,re-inventing their past history , even distancing themselves from their past history , and their founding members , such as c.t.russell and j.f.rutherford whose policies they now reject... they need to get on board and bleed it for all it`s worth .. smiddy .

Well, I wasn't around at the time of the great flood (or was that the Big Rain (Vicar of Dibley-style?)) but I've been to see the pyramids and even crawled around in one. I can assure you there isn't one tide mark. Maybe I should have gone to Specsavers?
