the watchtower society first published a book on evolution in the late 1960s or early 1970s, simply known as the evolution book.

it is a small hardbound book, the same in size at the old "truth" book.

other than reading it, i never really studied it.

'Humans come from apes' actually means humans and chimpanzees have a common ancestor at about 6 million years ago.

Your grandad's grandad's grandad's grandad's grandad's grandad is the same animal as Bob the Chimpanzee's grandad's grandad's grandad's grandad's grandad's grandad (or thereabouts).

The have been many further subsequent splits, but the descendant species other than humans and chimpanzees, that weren't our direct ancestors, have become extinct along the way.

We share a common ancestor to the gorilla, earlier than to the chimpanzee.

And all life on the planet has descended from a common ancestor that existed 4.5 billion years ago.

This quote from Thomas Huxley seems quite apt:

'l would rather be descended from an ape than a bishop'

Thomas at the time was championing Charles Darwin's idea of Natural Selection, the main voice of opposition was the Bishop of Oxford, Samuel Wilberforce.

i have, as well as with emails and especially text messages.. do you think there's any chance this could be real-that there is a valid, unspoken connection between people who reach out to each other?

She soon forgot about all the other things that were so wrong. I guess it was because she just wanted to believe rather than weighing up the evidence.

It's a consequence of how our brains work.

It has been well demonstrated that we remember things expressed positively more than we remember things expressed negatively.

Thus we count the hits and forget the misses.

If the situation is reversed, i.e. you are looking for the medium to get it wrong, you will likely underestimate the number of times they got it right - because again you will count the 'hits' (getting it wrong) and forget the misses (getting it right).

If you are aware of our tendency to do this, then you can counter it a little, or at least know to look for third-party independant corroboration to double-check the impression you have,
